Tune price falls within "average" price spectrum, trust me I'm an expert

Better than the $1400 I paid APR.

But.. it took my Audi S5 from 333HP to 458HP

    I was being facetious
Modding a car defies all logic, I've spent much more than that on an m3 tune, dozen revisions later and remote sessions on a dyno I want to believe it was worth it .. lol
At least s5 is fi, I'm sure on a first drive your expense was justified, on a na s54 not so much, but I love driving it and that's all that matters

$760 to wake this thing up is a bargain. People spend a$$loads on performance junk that either does nothing or is harmful (CAI's with "oiled elements"), and spend even more to throw away perfectly good tires in exchange for oversized KBro2s to further downgrade their performance for 99.9% of their use. Then these same people post on here about how $760 to overcome a government-induced flaw and actually improve their daily driving experience is somehow too much.

If its too much in your opinion, save it for something else, don't biotch about it here! Lots of other threads for whining.

    My too sober two cents!

    Have a nice day!

To each their own, but I'm with you. PPL spend $$$$$ for flashy kit that just ends up making little more than "cool" sounds.

I'm a bit disappointed I missed this post. I had emailed OVtune a while ago asking for info and was told they would keep me in the loop for the release and testing. Now I see they have it released and it is sold out on their website.

It is not the full release. It is a limited Alpha kit.

So. Everyone who has paid money for this has done so with no dyno data? Is there any data to back up the tune claims?

Y'all are getting ahead of yourselves.
    Ive been following this thread since day 1;

    1) it's not for sale yet
    2) it's not being mass produced yet
    3) it's listed on the site only as a placeholder (not sold out)
    4) it's $560 for beta testers. $760 for others when it's available.
    5) they have a truck and we should see dyno results within the next 2 weeks (he's on vacation)
    6) relax and save your money. It's going to be a great product.

I see what you are saying, but I was talking more about the performance end of it. Basically I was saying that larger platforms, especially diesels, can sometimes yield bigger increases than smaller platforms. From what I understand, we haven't even seen the dyno results yet, so that's why I was curious of the price point. I hope that makes more sense, lol.

Just go look at the other tunes on their site if you want dyno numbers, they have plenty of data for tuned Toyota 3.5l engines. I wouldn't anticipate much of a difference in gains compared to the other 2gr's they've tuned.

I am less interested in the overall gain and more interested in what the torque curve looks like. When in the higher RPMs I feel like the power is fine for the truck. It needs more in the lower RPMs. Time will tell

I've got the exact same problem with the hesitation. I've had a couple of the "oh, you're just not downshifting enough" or "you're driving the truck wrong" replies, but this is something that feels pretty major to me. I've been trying to study the problem and try to be able to recreate it enough that I can go take a Service Tech for a ride with me to see if they can dig into it once they feel what I'm feeling, but after reading a bunch of this thread, sounds like the truck is doing what the software told it to do.

Chile Verde, I don't want to sound like a dick either, but I don't think you should assume that because we're experiencing this that we don't know when to downshift. I know it's common practice to assume we're all smarter than the dumb ass who we're replying to, but in this case there's something going on that is a problem. In my case, I can drop down to second gear to make a right turn and get into the rev range where the problem exists. Now sure, I could go clear down to first to round every right hand corner but that's not a scenario where I think I should have to downshift that far in order to avoid a big problem. Or there's plenty of times when someone pulls out in front of me as I'm driving down a city street, let's say in third gear this time and I just let off a bit to let them merge, then get back on the gas without really realizing I've allowed the RPM's to fall into the zone were things go south. I can even have this happen if I just happen to short shift from 1st to 2nd and certainly you can't tell me that I need to go to 3500 RPM's in 1st gear every time I leave a stop sign.

I've been driving manual transmissions for most of my driving life, and know when to downshift. I have had a previous Toyota Pickup many MANY years ago, and not that long ago I put 150,000 miles on an FJ Cruiser also with a M/T. Never once had an acceleration issue like this with that rig. (Also, every other rig in my stable has a M/T)

I've been going along thinking I had a faulty throttle position sensor or something, and am just really glad to find someone who shows that there's an issue that may be correctable.

I wont try to take this too far off topic but seriously the effort here isn't worth it. You know what's wrong, I know what's wrong, others seem oblivious. I brought up the issue of almost getting stuck in cross traffic trying to turn into a driveway in 2nd gear.

People chimed in saying I don't know how to drive manual transmissions, 2nd gear was the wrong gear. Like it is complete common practice to have to downshift to 1st at 12 mph just to make a turn across traffic.

    No thanks.

Yea is super annoying when you've been a pro/am race car driver for a better part of your life and some kid on the internet says your issues are with your driving.

Very simple way of recognizing the issue with our trucks is as follows:

Put the truck in 2nd gear going like 10-15mph. Press and depress the gas pedal quickly multiple times. Note how the truck doesn't react to this input AT ALL. Any other car/truck you do this with and you will be buckin like a bronco. The throttle response in these trucks is a joke and needs to be fixed.
