need to complete mudflap mod and some other stuff but i caught the sinus plague.

Big truck mudflaps i find on the road. Trimming and fitting them to reduce mud & debris flying into certain areas under my truck. Front tires currently fling stuff straight against back of my foglights up inside bumper. Back tires are throwing it up on backside of taillights.

Dave any recommendations on things to bring and pack when I go out there other than the normal stuff we have here?

I brought everything for car camping, everything for backpacking, a weeks worth of clothes for hot weather, half a weeks for cold weather, rain gear, cooking gear, tools, maps, lots of ways to carry water...basically anything I thought I might need I threw in the truck.

All of that except my laptop charger...which didn't arrive in Amarillo. Looks like I'll be buying one somewhere even though I had a brand new one at home.

 

Anyone have experience with replacing the steering rack? Or have advice on where to order a decent one at? I've got. Serious popping in the front end and I'm pretty sure that's it. Gonna replace LCA's and tie rod ends first to see if that solves it, but looking towards the rack

 

You could always take it to a shop, have them look at it and tell you what it is, then replace it yourself.

Or....When does it pop? Get a buddy. One of you lays on the ground, the other sits in the truck and turns the wheel back and forth producing the pop. Person laying on the ground under the truck should hear the noise and locate it or, see something popping/moving,

I would highly suggest not going down the "Parts throwing" road of trying to find your noise. You'll spend a bunch of money you don't need to waste on parts that are good that didn't need replaced and do a lot of work you didn't need to do.

 

First half of the lower rock garden might be a stretch. We did the first 30yds. then got out. Only touched my skid once and don't think I touched sliders at all. 3 pedals and 5 gears in the rocks tho

If it comes down to replacing the rack I know how to do it pretty well lol and I can walk you through it with ease. As far as places to order www.rackdoctor.net is the best I have found

 

Lca ball joints. That's the problem. But if it's not, the steering rack is fairly easy to remove. I recently replaced my bushings with poly bushings so I'm fresh up on how to remove it. And you don't have to cut the mounting bolts off either. You just gotta be smarter then the parts you're working with.

When the wheel turns, and I've gotta replace the LCA ball joints and bushings anyways so I figured I'd start with those

That's what I'm thinking it is too but I always hear about racks being a problem on these trucks so I figured I'd go ahead and ask just in case.
