I lined both sides...my process was this: 1) grinder with flapper wheel, get everything down to bare metal
    2) Eastwood pre-prep spray
    3) Eastwood rust Encapsulator (1 coat)
    4) Rust-oleum metal primer (the grey stuff) (2 coats)
    5) Rust-oleum flat black enamel (2 coats)
    6) Rust-oleum semi-gloss black enamel (2 coats)
    7) Rust-oleum bedliner (2 coats)

As you can see it took me three different paints to get the look I wanted, and I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the outcome. I remember I painted the chrome bumper on my 1st gen with the bedliner and no prep (dumb) and it looked like crap. I would say a grinding and priming, and then 2-3 light coats will probably get the desired results.

A tip: spray the bottom side (hidden side) first and then you can turn it over without ruining the paint and get both sides done quickly.

Probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone else because I'm not sure if it'll fuck up your paint, but I was desperate and figured what the hell.

Previous owner had a bug deflector that had to have been on there for awhile. Took it off, and took me hours to get the adhesive off but still left remanants.

Decided to bust out the acetone to see what would happen. Sure as shit it worked! No idea if I messed up my paint, but it seems fine.

    Before touching it with anything.

Usually I'll use an eraser wheel followed by electric/air buffer with 3m compound. But at least you got it off! Looks so much better now!

Well the vinyl didn't stick on there too well, so I ended up peeling it off. I'm dipping my bumper though!!

Heck yeah! I wonder how dip would look / hold up on the mirrors. I may use glossifier on the bumper this time, it would get dingy after a while, but could always wipe it clean with tire shine! :)

Been feeling left out all the fun modding by the offroading crowd and the street truck crowd, so this weekend I treated my X-Runner to a 2" lift followed by a 2" drop ... think it looks much better :D
