So as far as I can tell the only lift that is on this is a body lift and leveling spacers in the front, BUT. The rear leaf spring are spent, from what I see,y the truck is sitting nice and level? If I put new springs in isn't the rear going to raise back up? And check out the parking brake cable in the photo. What's up with that, it's being pushed up by the spring.

Im looking to make this correct without raising up the rear end. I like a level truck or even squatted in the rear slightly. What do you guys recommend for me?

Eventually want to ditch the body lift and do a LT suspension set up down the road but need it to work well for about another year or so. Thank you in advance. Y

I may be crazy but I don't think the parking brake is supposed to be running above the springs.

Nice looking from the pics, looking forward to seeing more. As for the parking brake cable, mine runs above the springs but does not touch them. About an inch clearance between the two.

He's in South Cal. That's why. They've got original 1952 Chevies driving around down there that are in great condition. No salt and very little moisture unless you live right near the beach. I know because I grew up there.

My cable is above the springs as well on my 1st gen. Other than fixing that I wouldn't mess with it until you are ready to get everything done that you want. Others who know FAR more about these trucks will chime in I'm sure.

they moved the parking brake cable below the axle in 2003. before that they were above.

Being a Toyota I haven't spent much time underneath it except for general maintenance so I guess I better go take another look at the brake cable. I could have sworn it was above the axle.
I just went and checked mine. I was wrong. The E-brake cable comes out above the axle/ differential and and then angles down behind the axle/differential to meet up with another cable that crosses from wheel to wheel "behind" the rear differential so it can activate the parking/emergency brake or whatever you want to call it. There are, of course, various brackets to hold it in place.

The cable that runs from wheel to wheel is about 6+ inches below the rear springs and runs along "behind my axle/differential. Not above or below. None of my cables are anywhere near the springs nor would be even in a "full flex" situation.

Something is wrong about the OP's brake cable set up if it's touching the springs. There is no way that should be happening. Some pin-head has modified the suspension on the OP's truck the wrong way.

OP may need to just bend the tab up that holds the e-brake cable. Driver's side looks fine but passenger side shouldn't be resting on the springs with stock leafs. It commonly will with a "lifted" leaf pack due to the extra height of the 5th and/or 6th leaf.

That's exactly what mine looks like obviously because it's an '04. The cable sits low but it's right behind the axle where it can't get hung up on anything going forward and would be hard to damage even backing up.

Honestly your springs dont look to be too spent. They set fairly level when new and dont hold much weight...if you were to get new oem or equivalent replacements they will be damn near exactly the same as what they are now as for look and ride feel.

If you're going to lt your truck do the rear first. Then you can find used coilovers until you save enough to lt the front :)

I love the old dirt logics. They are still in demand.
