This winter for the eastern seaboard, has seen record snow fall, well that snow has to melt. I live at the junction of two rivers, the Potomac (which flows through our nations capital) and the Shenandoah (one of the very few rivers that runs from south to north). I was out and about down by the river to see how far above flood stage (if any) it was, and it has already flooded a road that run about 50 yrds off its banks. This means we are above flood and more coming, they are reporting it to crest about 21-25 feet, 18 feet is moderate flood stage, just down river at Point of Rocks, MD crest will be at 30 ft and major flood stage is 21ft. So in some of the pictures posted my truck would be under water if I hung out until tomorrow.

kinda related. Where is there some good white water rafting in W.Va? And would the snow melt have any effect on this in May?

to southern WV, the Gauley (like Golly) and the New. These when the waters are up can be class VI rapids, and yes with the snow melt the rivers will run higher this year in May, but it not why you think, since the snow melt will be pretty much gone in mid April, the ground will stay saturated thus any time it rains there will be more run-off in turn higher rivers and good fun.

This is true. It does, in fact, warm every spring.
