This was my last trip here in Montana. Also we make sure we clean up before bed and before leaving in case anyone was wondering...

You do that here in southeastern Illinois the skeeters would eat your feet and ankles up.

A year ago out of Garberville, CA. Rained most of the time, waiting for a couple friends to show so we could backpack down off the ridge to the Pacific, part of the Lost Coast section. Nice on Saturday, just light rain Friday. Fixed tacos for dinner one night by myself.

There needs to be more pictures of your bedrack with RTT. This is very similar to what I will be running and am also curious how you attached/mounted your awning.

Here you go. Still haven't gotten my hoist system yet, so for now, it's stuck up there. But I'll probably leave it there for another couple weeks - have two more trips planned.

Overall: Awning mounted to the rear. Only drawback is it's awful low. We're short, so it works, but I would love for it to mount a little higher.
    IMG_20170618_175548.jpg

Close-up of how it's mounted. It just uses the tracks from the RTT.

Underside of tent. Six mounting points, feels very solid.

How the RTT mounts to the rack:

Great adventure up to Gooseberry Mesa - southwest of Zion. Nothing like having an entire mesa to yourself!FullSizeRender.jpg FullSizeRender-1.jpg IMG_8665.jpg IMG_8712.jpg

Thank you that looks great!!!!! I am trying to decide whether I want to get an awning with the tent or figure something else out (i.e. instant canopy). It looks like the awning is just mounted using 90* aluminum/steel brackets? Does it bounce around much?

I have the same problem with the awning support on my tent hitting the cab. Always have to leave that one side hanging too. Thinking about making a custom rod with an S-bend to clear the cab roof.

Would be stoked to see a shot of your bracket for that awning mounted on the back of your CBI rack.

Edit: Just saw your mounting pics. Yep, gonna be too low for my 6'2" noggin.

Yep, if only the tent was a little higher.

It does jiggle a little. I think it's mostly the awning itself and very little on the awning mount. Since the only thing holding the awning are two Velcro straps and the vinyl zip case, it tends to bounce. I think it would bounce no matter what you mount it with. I think they are stainless steel. Not super sure, but they are the mounts that come with this awning. That being said, I drove several hundred miles with it mounted this way and had no issues. If you have a long bed, you might want to consider the foxwing and mount it from the side. This way you cover side and back. The reason I went with this one was because I wanted to get the awning walls to make an extra "room". I've yet to do that, though.

One thing to consider, no matter where you mount it, it does get in the way of zipping up the tent. Still doable, but a little extra effort is required to get around it.

I'm 5' 6" and (since you ought to angle it down to drain rainwater) my head definitely touches towards the lower end.

This is exactly what the guys at CVT suggested. Insert the rod until it won't go any more, market that spot and bend it 90 upwards using a vice. Then leave enough length to clear the cab (and awning in my case) then bend it 90 degrees down. They would have done it for me if I didn't show up at closing time. :D
