    Workin' on it....
So I'm pretty sure that a Fumoto valve probably got over-torqued -- there is absolutely no leakage right now but instructions were not properly followed. How worried should one be about sudden failure of an over-torqued Fumoto? Would you guys be proactive and replace it or leave well enough alone. Asking for a friend.....:anonymous:

Back it out and retorque. The only bad thing that can happen, didn't, and that is breaking the weld where the weld in nut is on the pan. You probably would have felt/noticed.

So what if the threads are F'ed up, wouldn't backing it out potentially make it weaker/more likely to leak?

So my fuck up, was I went through the 2nd Gen 4.0 Oil change guide to get the torque spec on the oil pan plug (30 ft lbs) and in the process of installing the Fumoto torqued to about 24 ft lbs before I started feeling this ain't right. Find out later from the Fumoto site, 15 ft lbs is the spec on the (now I know better) softer brass......:annoyed::facepalm: damn it!!!

Well, I would want to know if the threads are fud' up... alternatively, crank it down a few more turns for good measure.

I won't be cranking anything down any more (hopefully that was a joke). I'll look into retorquing and see how that goes. To fully inspect the threads I imagine I'd have to completely undo it, and reinstall so I'd have to change the oil again with only 200 miles on it.

<30$ and lesson learned, I personally would need to know. And yes, joke.

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mobil-1-5W-30-Full-Synthetic-Motor-Oil-5-qt./17034372

If it makes you feel better I also incorrectly installed, used torque wrench on hex shaped part of the valve body rather than the square part above like fumoto recommends. Because who doesnt read instructions til after? Well, other than you and I ?

Why yes, that is a Fumoto 103SX ... snapped off in my oil pan.
    IMG_2539.jpg
See those two bits on the bottom? Those should be one bit >_< (and yes, I double checked the torque of 15 ft lbs on their website)

Guess I get to see how good their warranty department is.

Snapped from overtorque or snapped from other causes?

From installation torque of 15 ft lbs. installed it, didn't like the orientation, loosened it to reorient the drain, and when I got close to the specified torque again it snapped.
