I was glad to have my all terrains and sway bar this weekend towing 4k lbs 700 miles... truck drives so much better with those two things

But you won't see either of them on my truck next weekend...
not true if you have offline areas downloaded. You can be in airplane mode the whole time
Backcountry passes are $7 for a 3 day permit. The people at shell never write a date on them though

@Rstiltner I'm hopefully not doing any hard wheeling this time, maybe for a few times, even if it means staying behind at camp, I am trying to go tho to meet people and gather ideas for my own build

Ive got a trailer hitch shackle I'll trade to one of you guys for a pack of bacon at camp. I've got two shackles on the bumper and don't need it anymore. I've also got gently used predator tube steps for a DCSB that id also trade for a pack of bacon...

Just say the word and I'll bring either.

I'll also throw in my advice since I was a first timer the last meetup we went to. Have a recovery point front and rear, don't feel bad if you get stuck, and try at least one thing you don't think you can do, the truck might surprise you. It's all in good fun and I don't think any of us will let each other really get in over our heads. Also get the addiction counselor on speed dial, cause you'll need it. Wheeling is stupid fun

Dood. I'd say I'm gonna be there the entire weekend if it was all up to me. But it's not. This time of the year, it all depends on j.o.b.

BTW, just saw the weather forecast for next weekend. 60% heavy rain Friday, 80% Saturday, 60% Sunday.

Tropical storm hitting Gulf coast and moving northeast, right through Kentucky. Only question is how much rain, not if it'll rain or not.

Yes, as long as you hsbe offline maps downloaded. If not its tough to find your location once you don't have service. If you find your location you can throw it into Airplane mode if you want and still use your GPS with exact location without downloading offline.

i'm assuming your question is more related to "no lift" than wheel size since tires would only depend on rim diameter (stated in tire size) and width (do a quick google search)... theoretically you should be able to fit any size tire you can with a lift, permitting you do the necessary cutting. @Jibbs just put 255's on his without a lift, i've seen others do this as well. i have 255's with a lift and they have been great (and i have NOT needed to cut anything). the safe route if you don't want to do any plastic cutting is this: V
i pull it completely. it only takes a few minutes with the right tools, but i've driven with and without it... especially towing, it makes a big difference. equally big difference though comes from the tires. 265/70/17 cooper at3's handle fantastic for road use and actually not bad for some very mild off road, and the 255/85/16 bfg mt's for off road. it literally feels like driving two different trucks
sadly this could be a game changer

I have one to pass along as well. It's been used at least once at LBL, but in good shape! I believe the other 2 recoveries were from the front.

Will also trade for bacon, beer, or a handie
As long as you can be there for a day I guess. You were pretty set on coming to LBL and didn't, that's why I'm pushing ya!
You got me out twice man! TWICE!

How are road manners with mts and no sway bar?

Its yours. I prefer pepper bacon over beer, but if it has to be beer, it better be stout.

Also, at least the 'zechariah 4wd trail' portion of our adventure may not be immediately ruled out by rain. When I went down there earlier this year, it was after 2 days of steady rain and everything was still passable, and the camp area was dry. The creek that runs through the valley is wide and fairly deep, it will hold a fair bit of water. The campsite is also a fair bit higher than base water level. The area that I turned around solo on the trail was because I was a little uncertain if I'd be able to get out of a water crossing on the other side, and I'd easily try that with someone there to give me a pull if I got stuck. #solowheelingprobs

At any rate, the backcountry site I typically use is on a ridge, so usually is free of much standing water. That site is located at 37.802617, -83.612530 and would *require* us to get passes. We've camped a group of like 15 there once so it should be plenty large enough for us, and the trucks will be about as close as we're gonna get them to a campsite in the park.

    Bacon it is.

Edit: The coordinates you gave me is a little way's away from most of the trails. I'm sure we can find a camping sight closer to the trails if need be.
