Turning the wheel rotates the bracket attached to the lca balljoint and with no lube or just worn out metal, it creates a notchey twist instead of a smooth one. Easy way to check your rack is see if there is play in the inner tie rod or find an oil leak. Even then though it could just be a seal.

People breaking racks are generally running high speeds. There's WAAAAAAAAY more destructive force put on suspension and steering parts in fast desert running then slow trail riding.

 

like potholes and washboard sections on gravel roads at 40-50 mph? None of use have ever done that.

So when I was going 50 down Old Ore Rd in Big Bend on Friday...things happened. Firestone rescued me this morning in Amarillo. Thank goodness for lifetime alignment. In Colorado Springs now, headed to Pikes Peak in the morning. Should be around 40° up there, and there's still snow.

 

There's a couple good bars in Downtown if you've got time. Check out Phantoms Canyon, they've got a damn good selection of beer and good food too

 

Doubt we'll have time. Heading to Estes Park this afternoon.

Same for me as well. First time, was at 40psi. Then I think I gave it a love tap on Friday or Saturday again
