Around Foscoe is where I was talking about every pulloff along 105 being private. I might have asked but there no houses and the signs were on every post/tree. I assume the pulloffs were for the guiding companies and development members. The only thing I found that wasn't posted was off of Dewitt Barnett rd, Valle Crucis Park, the bridge above that, and on Old Watauga River rd where there is good access but the water was very slow, too slow to support many trout. I think the DH water has been fished out by now anyway. I was just trying to find some fish for pops on father's day but it turn out to be pretty frustrating.

Yeah it's can be tricky this time of year with the water getting so hot. Make sure your properly clean your boots. That section where you fished on the wild section is where they found the fish with whirlings disease

I've been using their sling for a few years now and I really like it. My only complaint, and it's probably pretty minor (and maybe fixed since I think I got mine early in their availability) is that the d-ring I attach my net is not centered when I'm wearing hte pack, so it slightly rotates due to the net weight while wearing it.

I was so happy with their sling that I purchased their daypack as well. Couldn't be happier.

    @DrFunker

A lil sumn sumn arrived today and it's PERFECT for what I wanted. Room for a fly box, some leaders, tippet, nippers, hemostats and some fly gunk! I love how it can easily cinch and un-cinch. Hugs right up high on the chest out of the way.

    Nice.
The one thing that I couldn't figure out on the Mayfly was that there was a clip on the bottom.
After the first use I found out it was used to clip to your shirt so it doesn't fall forward when leaning over. Cool little feature.
I don't see one on this one, but don't see why you couldn't add it, if needed.

This one had that very same clip! I was like...WTF is this for? I didn't like it so I clipped it off....oops! It'll be fine as it doesn't swing much up that high. My luck I'd cut my waders with the edge of it. I could always add a plastic clip!

Don't have this but I saw it when I was searching the interweb for storage on my truck. Looks pretty slick!

Yeah I think I will start going farther west now that it has gotten hot. I took some cleaner and the hose to the boots and waders when I got home. I saw the signs around Valle Crucis. I believe Elk Creek has some sort of bacteria or parasite problem now too.

Yup, right outside Martinsville. I've been fortunate to usually catch some fish there

Nice to see this thread hopping.

Rubber net is the way to go for sure.

I built a DIY rod tube for a roof rack a while back and posted some pics.

Anyone else really superstitious? 2 weekend ago, when we were camping, I kept a stockie bow to eat for dinner Friday night. I rarely keep fish, stocked or wild, to eat. Its been a few years since I have, since I got hardcore into fly fishing. Fishing has been extremely tough since then to the point I took the skunk Saturday on one of my favorite brookie streams and got so frustrated I went home early. I need to shake this funk some how. Ugh.

Heading back up to northern Maine Wed-Sat for some more river & pond fishing. Caddis hatches are in full swing now - so it'll be dries, dries & dries. Did I mention dries?

Then next weekend (7/1) I'm hitting some remote ponds for the big cheeseburger fest known as the Hex hatch. That always brings the big Brookies up! big flies - so minimum of 2X tippet required to avoid the inevitable twisting.

After that, the trout & salmon fishing for me is over until September.

Hunting season kicks off in September, so I'll be on the water until then. Once that starts, all my days off will be spent sitting in a tree.
