Does your truck slide too easily in rain?

I drove a Taurus and Explorer before the Tacoma. I think that may just be it, your light in the rear comment. In the winter time I would put sandbags in the rear to help with traction and never had problems. I guess I took that extra weight in the back for granted

 

I virtually guarantee you my 2WD "landscaper, shit wagon" has hauled, towed, and pulled more than your 6 lug TRUCK has...but that's besides the point of this thread.

A " light rain" will always make any vehicle spin a bit, that's when the oil dropped at red lights and everywhere else starts to fill the streets. After it has rained heavy for a while it shouldn't be that much of a problem. If it is I would blame the tires.

 

I believe it. They have the base of the base with the vinyl floor and shit. I think the work truck model has to be ordered... but don't quote me on that.

Well shit... mine should have 16 fucking lugs then... cause it looks "rugged" as shit.


I kind of doubt that Toyota, or any other auto maker, sits around thinking, "Hmmm. Every car buyer counts the number of lugs... so... let's put more lugs on the more expensive trim levels... because that'll sell more cars/trucks."

Cause, you know, more SKUs and engineering designs are always what manufacturers want. Makes their jobs easier, more cost effective, etc.

 

More lugs = more traction = rugged AF

Used to live down in AZ. Phoenix and Tucson. Dry as hell. Roads get oily. A really light rain makes them slick as shit.

Seen a Crown Vic (police vehicle, heavy rear end full of gear) with Goodyear Eagle tires fishtail making a right at a stop light. Broke the rear axle when the wheel slammed into a concrete median. Had JUST started raining and he was responding to another accident.

 

That's interesting. I just fish tailed the other day in a light rain. Today it rained heavily for an hour while I was driving and I had no problems whatsoever.

On a side note that crown Vic must have hit the curb hard as shit to break the rear axle.

 

Once it rains hard the oil tends to wash away, light rain makes it a hazard.

 

this was it 18 years ago... I've not washed it since actually, it probably needs a battery, I've not even started it in a year.

 

Looks really good, especially since it gets used.
