I say go for it and get that stuff off. I should see where my buddy gets his reducer mixture at. That stuff will cycle that stuff off in seconds, many painters use that to remove sap on trucks to help clean the surface before paint.

 

I've now learned that acetone helps a lot. I used that and a little elbow grease and it came off. It'll strip off any wax you have, you'll need to rewax there. Someone else said acetone is safe to use on paint as long as it's cured.

Will I need to re-wax? I am too lazy for that Chad.

 

Yea man that stuff works pretty fast, that's my go-to for cleaning out paint guns as it strips off paint residue regardless of age. I would bet though that after removing the bug deflector he might want to rewax that area anyway with so much time with grime underneath...killing two birds with one stone.

 

You can do mine - I got Gunmetal (Matte Grey) Plastidip on hand.

 

Considering acetone is easy to get at an auto store, I say do what EST recommended. But yea man I would want to rewax that portion anyway as I doubt you were able to wax it that well with the deflector on there to begin with.

 

Dude waxing is so easy. To wax your hood will take all of 5 minutes.

 

Hmm the black actually comes out in a gunmetalish color. Does your can actually say gunmetal?

 

You are aware they make plastidip in like...40 colors right?

 

I know there is a variety, but I've only seen a few different cans at the local Homedepot.

 

Gunmetal Grey is what plastidip calls it. I have brand new cans of it.

 

Ah got ya, I know about that color as I almost got it for mine before realizing I had three cans of black in my room before even knowing about the stuff! Rents and their failed projects...

 

Sweet. That would be nice to compare that to the regular black.

 

I too would like to see the difference. With that being said Superman, I could help you out on doing this later on this week if it is something you want to do since Im pretty local to you.

Normally I would offer the weekend, but odds are I will likely be out and about. Just saying man, if you got all these mods that don't take much to complete...no need to wait brother.

 

I like this idea.....especially if there are some philly cheese steaks involved...used to drive from Jersey to Philly for an ex and steaks...more for the steaks though, guess thats why she is an ex haha
