Pisgah is definitely the mecca for single track in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just remember
what kills you climbing usually rewards you going back down the mountain.

 

no problem. some rotors and pads just dont mix well. if you have a orbital sander and some paper less than 100 grit you might pull the rotor and give it a good texture.

 

If the lever feels fine, it's possible some brake fluid or other contaminate found its way onto the pads or rotor. Wipe the rotor down with some isopropyl alcohol take time to properly bed in your pads when you install the new ones.

I usually sprint up to speed on the street/driveway, grab the brake and steadily increase pressure until you just about stop. At first the pads won't bite, but eventually they'll start to grab. Repeat half a dozen times or so, and you'll feel the pads start to bite more and more each time until you can quickly and easily lock the wheel.

 

I have tried multiple methods to bring contaminated pads back to life with no luck. Then I stopped buying the expensive shimano ones and found off brand ones on Amazon for half the price and they work the same with no issues. I have also been testing pads without the cooling fins on my DH bike and have not noticed a difference. Just a marketing gimmick if you ask me.

Last weekend I competed in the 24hour 2 man Singlespeed race at Palo Duro Canyon on my WaltWorks 29er I built the weekend before the race.
Got 1st place, LIKE A BOSS!!! It was a hard road of training starting in Feb of this year as I was out with 3 torn ligaments and 1 torn tendon in my right ankle for a year.
This pic was taken after I finished a lap in which it rained and hailed on me. You can see the ghost town behind me because they shut down the race for 2 hours because of the incoming storm. GOOD Times for a great cause.

Adventure bikes are sweet! I have a full carbon disc roadie and absolutely love it. I run errands all the time and it's also great riding to the bars and not having to worry about buying a taxi to get home

 

Thats why i got this thing it doesnt sit as aggressive like a road bike. Also love steel frame/rigid its heavy bike but once you get it going it boogies. Ill post pics of my hard tail onces i get it back
