I've seen that too, but 3.3 gallons is pretty small. I'm thinking of using like a 10 or 15 gallon rv tank mounted in the bed.

 

Sounds like a blast! I'll have to keep an eye out since I'd love to check out some of those roads... Other than the body damage ones.

 

It's just such an unknown and wheeling on the island is the big leagues the forests there are almost all old growth and it's just wild.. our first stop will be Tofino I pretty much took the motorcycle map and picked lakes and other points of interest to stop at so it'll be super interesting. The rigs coming include a Lt 08 Tacoma, an LT rear fj cruiser and two first gen tacos which are basically stock. There's gonna be challenges for sure

 

Sounds like a blast and would fit in well on my travels.

 

There are some pretty serious rigs out here. Not to mention they're all great guys I've done trips with before which helps a lot

 

Those of you with mountain bikes, how do you carry them? On top or on the hitch? I have a CVT tent on my topper on Yakima bars, but there's enough room on each side to mount a bike. I'm just worried about them being so high up. Are there any concerns with that?

Eventually I'd like to get a rear bumper with a swing out and integrate the bike mount there, but that's a ways out...

 

Hitch mount. Light bikes so easy to get off and on but I do have to take them off to get into my bed with the topper. Thinking of adding a hitch to the tire swing to take care of that issue.

 

Yeah that's what I'm worried about with the hitch mount. Are you able to open the back at all?

This is awesome. I actually just bought two wavians, one blue and one black. I intended to use the blue one for water and black for gas, but then realized you can't use steel for potable water. Derp. So I'll use the blue for gas (yes I know it's meant for kerosene) but the color goes so well with my truck already lol. Going to keep the black as a spare and get a black water can from the same people. They fit the spot on my truck I planned them to go in like a glove.



I just need to build a mount for them now.

Oh that is fancy. The one I have lets me drop the tailgate if the bike is not on there. And is not hard to remove the bike if needed.

 

Not without removing the the bikes.

Question.. any of you overlanders that are easily over a half-ton to a ton of weight over stock ever consider upgrading to a higher viscosity engine oil?

 

I have the scepter military gas cans with the scepter spout. When I pour the gas a little usually comes out the vent hole. Anyone know how to clear that before pouring? Besides that they've been great.

 

Don't tilt it so much.
