Happened to me years ago as well. Cops said that they probably stole mine as they had a flat. They took my front right and dropped it onto the disk back on the ground.
I have had wheel locks ever since.
I really hate a thief and unfortunately you cant shoot them on the street, unless they are threatening you directly.
A billet into their engine would be a nice way of saying F-you, though...

Could also be another Tacoma owner needing a replacement...
Not that it matters. An extractor socket will make short work of most wheel locks. Doesn't take longer time either: https://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Tools-53915-21mm-Extractor/dp/B0027S98EC/ Only way to defend against these is to use a Gorilla lock with a spinning sleeve, which requires more space around the lugnut.

What about breaking their legs first and then when they threaten you, you shoot them?
I hate those f-kers. Got catalytic converter cut off while parked in front of my house. Dealing with f-king insurance company and later with California emission still gives me nightmares.

@OP, sorry man, I share your pain.

The best mod/accessory/upgrade you can do for your truck is to park it in your garage.

Sorry this happened OP. Hope it works out with the police and a solution is found expeditiously!

And to everyone saying to shoot the criminal; there is probably no state that allows use of lethal force on an individual vandalizing your property unless inside your dwelling. So legally, without possible jail time or worse, the OP can not shoot the suspected person(s), either to injure or kill. They could only detain them until police arrive, and that's still a gray area even.
Personally, where I live, I'd shoot and drag their ass inside the house. But that's just what I've been told by LEO and lawyers alike.

Very true. And also just check for replacement wheels before you buy new online, I see Tacoma wheels pop up on Craigslist pretty frequently for cheap
