I noticed the weather stripping was tucked under the headliner on the drivers door of mine and I pulled it back and over the material but it only clears it by about 1/4", so maybe just a bad cut...hope it doesn't cause issues own the road..

21k here and zero issues. In fact, haven't been back to the dealer for a single thing.

Ah, my fault, I meant to say the new 6 spd manual, the auto sucks IMO. I guess I have to put "IMO" because people blow up on others for no reason...

People "blow up" because of statements like this. As a third gen owner with an auto, I always smile when a second gen owner says this. My tranny works fine.

I would trade my gen II in a heart beat for a very low mileage, excellent shape gen I... In a fucking heartbeat.

Sounds about right. What vehicle did you previously drive if I might ask?
Oh yey I laugh and ask the same question to everyone who says that since we're being truthful with each other.

I wouldn't say it is flawless, the engine power management is just off. The throttle input/output at lower RPM's makes no sense for the amount of torque available. Their idea of engine management is completely cutting any type of available torque at lower RPM's. 2nd gear at 10mph should not act like it does in this truck if you need to get up and move a bit. Not to mention the complete release of any type of engine braking at ~1200-1500 RPM. Bucks half the time you are braking to slow down to turn into a driveway.

I've thought about it plenty OP, but I've had quite a few of the issues mentioned on this board. Don't even know if I'd go with another Tacoma to be honest. I'm not seeing these being worth the price compared to other vehicles on the market, especially older used trucks.

Manual or auto? It was a whole lot better driving on the road compared to a 2nd gen manual when I took a manual 3rd gen for a spin. Engine management is one aspect but lower displacement is causing torque loss. As I said before, very weird for a new vehicle to have less "power" than the previous outgoing generation, by power I mean torque, 3rd gen hp numbers is where I would have liked to see 2nd gens go to during production but that didn't happen.

Manual. I've driven older manuals, a lot of my friends have manuals, and this truck is by far the oddest behaving of them all. I never drove a 2nd gen manual though so I can't say what that is like.

I almost got stuck in cross traffic making a turn into a driveway in 2nd at like 10 mph, there was just zero throttle response for a good couple of seconds. That does not make sense. You should not have to downshift to 1st gear at 10 mph just to have enough power/torque to not almost stall out turning across traffic.

It's hard to help someone or even respond intelligently if you don't know what they have. Some posters here don't even know what generation they have! In the short time I have been here I have seen several posts in the 3rd gen section that were questions or statements regarding 2nd gen trucks. They just posted in the wrong sub forum.

    all tore up already
Why dont we have videos of this yet? Someone get me a 2nd gen manual trans in new england and a dirt lot and lets play! But i also want to run the 1/4 mile and towing mpg tests to be fair. Know ya got the torque but 3rd gens have horsepower advantage, similar weight. Would be interesting atleast. Just no posted videos until after the warranty claim is settled. i just may make a project of this, know a nice lil area right near the ne dragway we can do all kinds of super scientific testing and such to add fuel to this pissing match. Then a cruise by the beach to compare what ladies think because thats important af.

I don't doubt the new one can outrun the second gen in the 1/4 but I am fairly confident that I could pull one. Now that I think of it I think there are videos online of the second gen smoking the third in the quarter as well.
