Crank shaft sensor went out on my 2016 Tacoma leaving my girl friend on the side of the freeway until the tow truck got there. Dealership replaced it under warranty, but there is supposed to be a recall on the sensor coming out soon, don't let this one get you too!!

There is already a big thread on this with many reported failures, and I believe there is now a recall out there for it too.

Welcome, there is a recall for certain Tacoma's based on production date. Mine is under recall, 10/15 TX build. The recall was posted on TW the day it was announced. My dealer told me Toyota hasn't released the fix yet, and I haven't received official word by mail from Toyota yet. I am hoping mine doesn't crap out before they replace it.
You have come to the right place to stay informed about the 3rd gen. Just take everything you read with a grain of salt.

Mine is being held hostage at the dealer for the rear diff recall and they also don't have the fix for the crank yet either. If you can avoid bringing it in until the fix is out, do so.

Mine was under the diff recall also, but mine was bone dry. Brought it in last Saturday for maintenance, retightened and out the door. Toyota is not holding vehicles for the CPS recall, just have to wait until I get the letter and hope it doesn't crap out until then...
