If someone damages their tailgate and needs a new one. They can be quite expensive, with the back up camera, tailgate lock and it will have to be painted. So some people will steal a tailgate and sell it for way less then a brand new one. Need a inferno tailgate, they will find you one.

It is a standard feature on certain trim levels... such as the Limited and the Pro (I think). It may become the standard with the 2018.After all thye will need to add some bells and whistles.

It will keep people from stealing things out of the back of the truck...If there's a lock, people wouldn't try to reach over the bed side to get something out...:broccoli:

With the tailgate unlocked anyone can open the tailgate and lift it out with no tools. Many folks have had their tailgates stolen.

No you don't, the key inside your fob will unlock the tailgate as well...at least mine will.

Ahh... I see the conundrum here. So power locking tailgate is the option. Has a button/switch inside the cabin somewhere ?

hasn't dodge and ford have power locking tailgates that lock with the doors when you use the fob since like 2015. Toyota should step up their game.

My tailgate unlocks & locks with the keyfob for the doors. It was an option that I wanted. Put a tri-fold on and carry LOTS of guns to gun shows in the back all locked up and out of sight.

I have a Limited. How would I know if I have the tailgate lock? Is there a switch inside the cab?

But my Pro spec sheet says "power locking tailgate... $259" A keyed locking tailgate is different than a power locking tailgate... thus the $259. Correct ?
