The one I installed was an Alpine PWE-S8. I've got the same unit. I'm planning on putting mine in the cubby behind the driver's side rear seat. I mounted my friend's unit under his passenger seat. I wasn't wild about how it sounded when I was sitting in the passenger seat on top of the sub, but it sounded great from the driver's seat.

I'm hoping for the same results when I get around to getting mine in.

I'll cut a small slice off a log or two tomorrow to see how the inside condition is. I bought a 20" chainsaw with full intent of cutting and splitting this but the wife wants to convert to pellet.

Pellets are fantastic. I had them in the last house. I have two fireplaces in the new house. One they already put a propane insert in. The other one is still wood burning, but the metal firebox is rusted out, damper is gone, etc., so it's not usable in its current condition. I may put a pellet insert in that instead of fixing it.

For whatever it's worth, we got these last year: http://www.rfvermont.com/wp/green-mtn-pellet/ They are the best pellets I've ever used. Virtually no ash!

They have "New England Wood Pellet" too. They're not quite as good as the Green Mountain/802 Pellets, but still much better than the stuff you'd find at Home Depot or Tractor Supply.

Also had good luck with Maine Woods Pellets. Dettinger's carries those.

What project are you working on? I'm literally about 2 blocks from you. And I agree, driving and parking in that area is a shit show. Fortunately, I get in early enough to avoid it and have parking on my job site. Getting out in the afternoon has been fun...

We're hauling material out of Parcel "M" right in front of Whiskey Priest. Fun stuff. It's all mud. They're digging the slurry walls.

More than likely I won't need any this year. Probably will just burn oil this winter and won't spend the money on a new stove until next.

Plus there's always a chance I'll need to put in a new oil boiler. The oil guy I know spent some time on it and said it runs like it's new again, but he found out they haven't made parts for it in decades. So, should something fail that we can't find a suitable part for, that's the end of its life.

Nice. They're mucking it up pretty good in there. I walk by that site every day and see what they're doing and it always seems like a slop hole where the work is actually taking place. Looks like a really tight site.
