Hmm, my brakes are fine, but I came from CR-V not a beammmmmmmmeeeerrrrrr. My folks have had BMW's & Audis and I would say those brakes are much more tight/grabby than a truck LOL

Just picked up my new Tacoma yesterday, traded a Tundra in on it. The Tacoma brakes are better than the Tundra ones were IMHO. @Diablo169, is your red beast a Challenger? Thought I recognized the wheels and bottom trim. The brakes in those are definitely amazing.

I came from a Porsche and a BMW as my two previous vehicles. You are smoking something if you think a truck, any truck, should feel like a Bimmer or sports car.

Going from the Porsche to the BMW felt like a down grade. That doesn't mean the BMW is bad. It just means the Porsche was designed better and It's intended use is different.

The truck isn't designed for late braking into corners or to be an ultimate driving machine.

Honestly, imagine posting in a Bimmer forum about how poorly your 3series handles off road or hauling mulch. That's basically what you are doing here.

There have been problems noted that these trucks nose dive even when light braking. I thought I was crazy but those who get in my truck or back it in at the ramp all get out and say jesus your brakes are sensitive or when on the road it dives considerably hard when braking under normal conditions (ample distance from yellow light, dry pavement, etc etc). I love my truck, but my next one will be a diesel for sure.

Fingers crossed for a Toyota made diesel before my lease is up...

Coming from my 04 Silverado (4 wheel disc but probably twice as heavy) i noticed the brakes didn't stop as well. It just takes some adjusting to them.
Better than my dads 98 that even the slightest pressure on the pedal made the truck feel like you were slamming on the brakes.

I have a '69 VW Camper (all drums) and let me tell you the excitement is much greater when you foot is 6" away from the front bumper. If you get in an accident on a bus, you're the first one on the scene.

I think the brakes on my OR are killer, but the truck got a little squirrely the one time I have to lock them done.

I drove a 66 dart in Mobile for about a month (sold it cause I realized I had a brand new truck just sitting there while I drove that PoS). This city has the shittiest drivers ever, but the worst was this story (excuse the 4chan layout and "petal").

Yeah I agree! I'm coming from a 400lb 2016 Yamaha R6 and my Tacoma doesn't stop near as quickly. Are the brakes underpowered??

Slow down and you won't notice any difference between the two.

    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

Going home on the freeway, was going to my exit when last minute everyone slammed their brakes because it was backed up at the stop sign. I was pretty close to a vehicle already and pumped my brakes pretty hard and the truck when from 60-0 in about 20-30 feet and I didnt hit the guy in front of me. I love the brakes!

Hahah I was being sarcastic because comparing a truck to a sports car is like comparing a motorcycle to a truck.... haha it just doesn't work out

Almost every Bimmer boy who I regularly placed ahead of in autox and HPDE events had a serious problem with the loose nut behind the wheel.

Every one of them should have easily out done my little 100hp ride.

When, and if, they ever put the effort into getting that tightened up and quit using the throttle/brakes as on/off switches, their lap times dropped dramatically.

Watch a good driver sometime. They can move from vehicle to vehicle and in a very short time be running quite well, as they have the ability to adapt. Sounds like you've not made that adaptation yet.

PS, did you bother to properly bed in your new brakes on your new truck? Most folks don't. Dealers don't bother to tell them too, 'cause most folks are too ignorant to know how. But it should be one of the first things any new owner does after rolling off the lot.

^ this is what I tell people all the time. You have to know what a vehicle is capable of before you drive it like a bat out of hell. One of my wife's friends went from an Equinox to a 2015 V8 camaro and the first thing I told her to do is go to an empty parking lot and see what it does when you put different pressure on the gas and brake pedals. Then do it again after it has rained. It's a huge difference going from 200hp to 400+hp. The last thing you wanna do is pull out in front of someone in the rain, thinking you can stomp the gas like you did in your old car, end up spinning the rear end around, and getting t-boned because you aren't familiar with the car. That applies to every functioning performance aspect of a vehicle. You should always adjust to the vehicle you are driving and not expect it to adjust to your driving.
