No wheels/tires..... gives you 15+ hp, better braking (wait never-mind), and ripping acceleration, just like the skeeewp!!

    I'm still here.

Mostly just in awe at the people who have posted and seem so butthurt over a general conversation and feel like they need to argue about everything.

Maybe my thread was taken out of context?
I meant for it to come across like a bunch of guys sitting around drinking beers at a campfire chatting.
Asking a general question I was curious about.

I'm not making fun of anyones choices, telling anyone how to spend money, making bold claims, saying lifts are stupid, etc..
Maybe people are assuming I meant to make fun of those with a lifted sport?

I guess thats what the internet has turned into these days.

I'm shocked at how many people feel the need to point out that the hood scoop is in fact, fake.

    As if:

    1. They were ever functional, on any sport model Taco or Ho-runner.
    2. Even if they were "functional", that their placement would even be beneficial.....you know...that's a dead zone right there...

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
I got the sport lifted not for off-roading but for a little more clearance driving through deep snow in the winter and I like the looks. I also got the sport because I drive a lot of winding roads. Another question you could ask is why do some people buy the off road version but never go off road? What ever model we pick just fits our needs and wants I guess.

Every new Tacoma sold is now "lifted" in manufacture. You used to need to buy a 4x4 or prerunner to get an offroad stance. Consumers want the offroad look regardless of functionality (ease of loading, towing, mpg, etc.).

Naw man....if it came like that from the manufacturer, its stock. Once we get our dirty little dick beaters on it, then its "lifted".

    Trim up, hammer down.

I've used that expression in more situations than I care to remember o_O

Side note: My trucks a TRD OR 4x4 and I would bet its spent just as much time in 4x4 as it has on paved roads...

    Like, so many.
I think, like others have pointed out, it's for aesthetics. And that's a perfectly valid reason to a mod a vehicle. I just bought an SSO Slimline bumper not for any added capability, but because I think it's a huge visual improvement over the stock front bumper.
I actually love the scooped hood and if I can find one, I'll swap out my plain Jane hood in a quick minute.

Wheelie life! Now I just need to learn some patience while I wait for the new KTM TPI to hit my local dealerships loading dock.

The real problem is that the question you asked was the TacomaWorld equivalent of going to a rally in San Francisco and asking "why be gay when you're built to function with women?"

People have fierce opinions about their trims of choice, they don't want to hear any other peoples' opinions, and at least 70% of this site is people who don't have an ounce of social skills. You're not going to find reasonable conversation about this topic here.
