guys, I've had my Tacoma for a week. Didnt know anything about them before I bought it other than "I had to have one !!"
I bought it from a private owner and it came with the roof rack. Does the roof rack come off ?? If so, is it tough to remove ?

    Thanks

You can remove the cross bars not the side rails

I mean unless you want to stare at mounting bolts

    Yes it does come off.
    No its not hard,
BUT, you will need some extra parts to replace the rack once its off.

X2. You will need the rubber molding strips where the roof rack sits now. I'm surprised he didnt give them to you. I saved mine just in case I took it off.

You can take off the rack, s'melt (smell and melt) it down do a liquid and then poor it into the grooves to seal them up and keep out any pesky gnomes

You can also take it off and sell it to me for $100. I would even send you my rails, to cover yours up.

Nice looking truck, by the way. Dark is hard to keep clean--but it sure looks pretty when it is!

I just removed mine last week. Nothing to it. Just need to work a trade with someone on TW for their ditch strips. You'll need 10 each 6MM socket set screws (about 3/8" long) and some some type of caulk to plug the bolt holes. You will also need to get two strip clips from the dealer for about $2 each. These hold down the leading edge of the strip under the windshield molding. I can send you the part number if you need it. These clips will need to be attached with some two-part epoxy. Last but not least, you'll need some 3M double-sided body molding tape from the local auto parts store. It was real easy to do. Worst part was cleaning off the old soap and debris that was under the rails. Also needed to do a little polishing because the rubber bases rub into the clear-coat a little. Not bad, but enough to bother me.
