Hey man, do you think you could grab some measurements for your all-pro skids. I just picked up the apex bumper and want to make my own skids.

Why does it look like the coil spring is way short?

 

Preload is jacked. Gonna try and fix it today. Might be moving to 650#.

 

Thats what my icons have (650lbs), interested to see how it handles the apex, and at some point a winch.

 

Just to give you an idea, I never adjusted my ICONs until I built my belly skid. I don't know what the factory skid and bumper weigh but they held up 110lbs front bumper and 70lb IFS skid just fine. Only took a 120lb belly skid and cross member to finally make me adjust them. I also have a winch to install in due time. If anything I'll just upgrade to a longer 650 coil.

 

Thats good to hear. Im still highly debating what material to use for my skids. 3/16s STL or 1/4 AL to reduce weight. I dont wheel super hard, but my factory skids are definitely bent up.

 

Even if you don't wheel hard trails, Steel will take a hit like nothing. I'd rather have the the protection over weight. Unless you're overlanding for thousands of miles and takes the easiest routes, I personally don't see a reason to do aluminum.

 

Same, it's truck it's gonna get heavy and who cares about MPG if you're wheeling the damn thing

 

So you're running 600# coils up front with your setup? I'll take the preload out next week, trying to work on the OBA today instead. I am going to add more weight to the rear with the rack and everything on it, so my front will get even more unloaded. I think I have 600# 14" Eibach coils now.

 

No. The front coils are 650s.

Here you go. If you don't have the lower radiator guard piece, attaching the skids may be difficult.

 

That is perfect! Thank you. I do have that lower piece, just missing the blinkers unfortunately.

 

Instead of adjusting my coilovers, I decided to finish my OBA install. I may still get a tank, but for now I don't have one. I just ran a line straight to a quick connect and that's it. Having the SwitchPro made the installation super easy. Run the main power to my blue sea circuit breaker. Ground the unit in the cubby. Connect the switch line power to a slot on the SwitchPro block and ground it nearby and I'm done! Here's some pics because I haven't seen anyone else do this location and with a SwitchPro.

If you find some good blinkers, let me know how they work. The ones that AllPro provides are shit, there's only 3 little LED's in them and you can barely see them. This is something like what you're looking for.

For sure I'll let you know. For now my halos are wired in as switch backs so those will be my blinkers.
