i started noticing last week that at times my gas pedal is really hard to push. it happens alot when in stop and go traffic from the constant accelerating then deccelerating. it is like that something is lodged behind it, then all of a sudden it will it release and it almost causing you to spin the tires. anyone else having this isssue? and if so, what can be done? wd-40, cable adjustment?

Check the throttle cable and then the gas pedal itself. My guess is that it's more likely the cable is binding somewhere.

clean the throttle body. that is the most come problem with cable operated throttle. there is no electrical on your throttle.

I would do what Enola suggested first. Check to see if something is causing it to bind.

I had the same problem with my 96 when I got it, the idle screw wasnt even touching the stop. I turned the idle screw in just until it was touching it and it fixed it right away. It probably needs cleaned also.

I got my oil changed yesterday and complained to the dealer about it. They told me that they have gotten a couple of complains like my after doing the pedal recall, and that will order a new pedal for me, to see if it will fix it.
So , I will wait for that before i try anthing else. Thanks for the ideas and I will let you know what happens...
    Cheers

I will keep a watch on this post. My throttle seems to be VERY stiff also. I put it on the list of things to do when I had time but haven't gotten there yet.
