Sold my hideous running boards today. Finally! Should I buy the Tyger Armor steps that Caleb @Me. Projekt had or bolt on sliders? Im leaning towards the Tyger steps but I can be talked out of them. But, I don't wheel hard enough to need sliders, bolt ons don't provide any real protection, and they Tygers are cheaper.

If you dont wheel and dont plan on it, some sort of steps will work just fine. Otherwise, my vote is rock sliders. If you dont mind welding, 4xinnovations has a great set for a very reasonable price. I run them.

Definitely go sliders. You can get them built at 0 degrees instead of the standard 15 degrees, so they'll be flat. This way you can use them as a step. Bolt on sliders do indeed offer a shit load of protection, especially from a good company like Mobtown or All Pro. I ran all pro apex and they were stout.
Wouldn't bother. Those bolt up to the cab, and are just fake sliders. You could cut off the mounts, and weld the sliders directly to the frame and have real sliders.

People in the area kinda suck. I would more often use the sliders as door protection from other people then wheeling.

I'll be going sliders when I get the chance.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll just keep saving my pennies and go for some bolt ons from Mobtown down the road.

Oh, I'm "off-road" all the time, I just don't "wheel."

I'm telling you, if you don't mind a little fabricating, those avid ones are a sweet deal to turn into real weld on sliders, which people have done. Not sure how you feel about welding to the frame though.

I'm fine with that. The majority of the welding I have done has been fixing farm equipment, so my welds aren't pretty, but they work!

@fatfurious2 Are you all going to be camping that night? I need to get a good nights sleep in preparation for the mid shift sunday night, so want to be in my own bed. Will I have an issue getting back to the road if I'm the only one not camping?

I say go for it then! Could be a fun project, and a way cheaper alternative to other options.

If the trail will handle stock, and some people aren't camping I might be in, especially since the word Brewery was brought up. I'd bring my live in DD

I'm bone stock except some new 33's. Also did some other things to make my truck more trail friendly i.e. removing mud flaps, got proper recovery points, etc. but other than that, just tires.
