Ordered parts for the key lamp mod today.

It will be my first attempt at fucking around with wiring. Will post aftermath of the carnage.

That is call the block height..well..sorta.

Thats the maximum amount the coil can be compressed. Not really a max measurement for preload. But if you preloaded them so much that the coils touched each other at full stuff, you've got a problem.

Your spring's block height is 7.02''

I ran that setup back in the day. Had a lot of weight too. Plate bumper with winch, full budbuilt skids, sliders, v6, yada, yada, yada. Those coils were not up to the task in the long run. Kept having to add more and more pre-load just to maintain height.

I am now running 14", 3.0, 700# Kings which handle the weight just fine.

These are the older coilovers correct? Just from looking at the pictures, they appear to have more shock body than the newer ones. Which will make it appear to have more preload, when in fact it is the same. You should measure the actual length of the coil at ride height and compare it to someone with the same coil on a newer SAW. I have the newer ones and can take a measurement, but my truck definitely weighs less than yours up front.

Installed that synthetic line. Pretty easy. Good thing I did, my old line was frayed. Sliced my damn beer gut removing the old line. Ouch

"Hub to fender" measurements are really only relevant for "before and after" or "over time" comparisons on the same truck.

For your reference the pictured shocks below are the 1st pair sold of 7/8" shafted Taco SAW's. I ran them for 8 or 9 years with a 75 lb bumper with winch, steel rope, steel roller fairlead and 3/16" skids. Ride height was maintained at a hair over 2". They required 2 or 3 "corrections" of preload to compensate for initial settling/sag in the first few years then seemed to stabilize.
Today they sit "as removed" as spares with the coils measuring a preloaded length of 12.5" pass and 12.25" driver. I have no idea what the free length is today (post settling). They are the "standard" Eibach (SAW red or Eibach silver) 14" 650 lb coils. SAW would sell them with other coils only on request. Within a few years a few folks were ordering them with 700 lb coils and "Tundra valving".
Also of note, the upper poly bushing was known to crumble under the top nut/washer. This was not easily seen (on the truck) and would have the effect of reducing preload, frequently mistaken as coil sag.
I have long forgotten the shock oil weight but someplace like https://www.kartek.com/ will know and sell it.

As I understand it the shafts and the upper poly bushing are no longer available.

Went to flush my cooling system today and discovered that there was only water in it    To say I was surprised would be an understatement!

Now it's flushed and filled with Toyota Pink. I am amazed that this truck just drove all the way from 115 degree AZ and A/C on without a hiccup...

Had my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, idler pulley, tensioner, cam seals, and drive belts, as well as oil changed yesterday. $700 total. All the parts that came off looked in great shape for 188k. Not sure if previous owner did it or not before. but couldn't find any indication that they were changed at 90k.
