Not sure how/why someone invited themselves on the trip.....then arbitrarily changed the dates....wasn't intended to be an open group.

We've been planning for 3 old Army buddies and our wives to go on a 3 week trip next May. 3 days will be spent @ Ft Sill Oklahoma. Then on to moab. Then home. Nothing against anyone else, but this will be sort of a private party.....just 3 old Cavalry troopers.

No way I'd want to do the "Cannonball Run" trip across country.

Didn't realize Chad shanghi'd your dates... He was talking about Moab, told him I couldn't go this year, next year is '18.

3+ days each way. 3 days @ Sill. 10 days in Utah. @ a slow, leisurely pace. I get enough panic pace shit the rest of the year. Not interested in play racing on the highway.

I know several here have talked about a convoy there. Would be exciting if it happened. I would definitely rather go when both of my boys were a bit older but may go with a group from KY or TN first and test the waters.
Definitely not trying to jump in with the Army guy group lol, not sure about the Chasdster.

I'd LOVE to go someday with an open group.

The Army group is sorta special. We were a 9 man recon squad. (LRRP) Only 3 of us still alive. (6 car wrecks) We're doing this with just us and our wives.

Our grandson (that's going with us to Harlan) wants to do an epic adventure with grampa and this could be it. He's 11 now. I pictured him around 14 or so before we set off to the edge of the world. We'd talked about Canada.....

I am a Marine so I know how that army cav private club stuff works.

I'm going to Moab on my way back from California after having my long travel and bed cage built
Someone expressed wanting to do a Moab road trip
That shit takes time and planning as you know
I'm going in July of 2018 and anyone who wants to go is welcome because growing relationships with New friends is better than playing the super secret squirrel club games

    Also
On convoys I always put the slowest person at the front of the pack and let them set pace
And let the oldest person or most disabled person dictate MOST bathroom breaks aside from gas stops

When traveling multi day trips I never speed
It's not worth the out of state tickets

My Moab intentions are slow drive 3 days to Moab
Camp and trail ride for a few days and hitting the more advanced trails
I'll be bringing legit camera gear and my mavic pro to take as much of the Moab trip home with me.
I plan to end my nights around a campfire with bourbon and meat over a open flame

I will be going in July because April May and June are high traffic time frames for Moab and camping spaces are limited

I'll talk to him. He had no way of knowing about the plans our Army crew had. I've kept it pretty quiet here.

That will have nothing to do with your winch as it doesn't create electricity. If you're using your winch and it goes boom and catches on fire then that's a freak accident and means nothing else did it's job. If your battery spontaneously combusts then may God have mercy on your sole!!

Just curious. You're about the only truck I've seen in person without hoops.

I don't know that they'd really serve any purpose for me, other than extra weight on the front.

So last night I started working on fixing my front diff. Looks as though the metal sleeve that replaces the OEM needle bearing was messed up. So I borrowed a tool from John that slides through the sleeve, grabs onto the backside of it and tightens down, pulling the sleeve out. Well, the problem is that apparently the metal sleeve has been wearing away for awhile because there was no lip left to grab onto and the tool just freely slid in and out.

Well I gotta get the sleeve out somehow. So I used a die grinder and ground down a slit in the sleeve until it cracked then bent it in and pulled it out. Haha I had a moment there of "what the fuck am I gonna do now?" but it worked out great. Check out the pics of how thin the metal sleeve ended up being compared to what it should look like ....

Oh and me and Sarah are getting married July 1st
