All day diversity training today. Starting at 8am. This should be fun. The male menopause is kicking in and I'm full of piss and vinegar...

 

Sounds like this is going to be followed by a full day of sensitivity training

For whatever reason, I'm in one of those sarcastic bad moods. I wonder if I'll still be employed by the end of the day.

The damn training sounds more like collusion... what happened to assimilate and the 'great melting pot'?

So I get woken up last night around 1 in the morning by the dog growling and a scratching, thumping noise from outside, near the cellar door. There's been some break-ins in our area lately, so I grab the flashlight and the bedstand gun and sneak downstairs. Sure enough, the noise is coming from the cellar door, so I get the gun lined up with the door and flip the switch for the outside light. Nobody there, but the noise stops. I check outside the door through the window and can't see anything, so I click the flashlight on, pull the door open, step outside and shine the light around. Turns out the scratching noise was from a skunk who was digging for grubs underneath my door mat, and who's now standing about 10 feet away from me with his tail in the air. Talk about a heart starter! So I VERY slowly back into the house and shut the door, lol.

I didn't get sprayed, thank god, but it still took me about 2 hours of tossing and turning to fall back asleep after that adrenaline dump

 

Talk about dodging a bullet.

 

Yeah, I'm glad the dog didn't follow me down the stairs. She's a pit bull/lab mix and she's got enough of that "It hurt me...KILL IT!" instinct that things would have ended poorly. For all involved, really.

Edit- She's got a pretty strong 'guard' instinct with the GF, though. She'll wake me up to let me know that I should go check on something outside, and then station herself at the bedroom door and won't move until I come back and 'relieve' her.

 

Noel, if you had gotten sprayed you wouldn't have slept at all last night

 

Absolutely true. It might actually have woken the GF up, too.

No, she sleeps like a dead baby under a log. The dog growling didn't wake her up. Me getting out of bed didn't wake her up. My turning on the outside light on and opening the door downstairs didn't wake her up. My climbing back into bed didn't wake her up. Maybe the dog and I getting sprayed would have, lol.

 

How do you know what dead baby under a log sleeps like?

 

It's a combination.
Sleep like the Dead
Sleep like a Baby
Sleep like a Log.

Add them all up for a sound sleeper like her and you've got a dead baby under a log.
