Surprised at the amount of picks Vegas got. They should be good for years if they keep them. Lots of ammo

Probably should've. Honestly, you could make a case that Hedman is the best overall defenseman of that group. I still would've given it to EK though. He QBS that whole team, everything runs through him with their transition game. The dude is unreal. No dig on Burns but he faded a bit at the end and I do think he is slightly overrated.

Also, Kesler should've won Selke, IMO. I'm glad McDavid won MVP as by definition of the trophy, he was the MVP. I'm a bit shocked that Sid didn't get Ted Lindsay though. Sid is still the best player in hockey, no way around that.

Also, can't stand seeing MAF come out in the Vegas jersey. Just doesn't feel right.

McNabb looked embarrassed to wear that garb ... I'm sure that'll wear off once the paychecks start rolling in. I'm thinking most the players will probably just rent instead of move to Vegas.

Eberle is weird. So much potential. So is this a good move for Oiler fans?

I'd say split. There'll be a lot of outcry - but there'll be some happy folks. I'm the 2nd category there. Ebs has great potential - but he's sure flattened out in the last year and a half. Last season he was almost considered a 'Goat' on the team. Can't really find a place, with all the roster changes.
Hope he does well with the Islanders. But I'm not sad to see him go.

Plus.....the Oilers dump a PILE of money off their cap. So you never know - this could be making room for something else. Or just getting rid of a 6 million dollar per year hit - for a player that's playing at a 1.5 million per year level.

Strome is a bigger body with more upside in front of the net. He'll draw defenders more than Eberle did which fits with what Edmonton needs. Good trade.

Ya, I know they have been talking about moving him for awhile now. Just is crazy because he shows flashes of being amazing but has also struggled at times.

Eberle changed his game 2 years ago. Before that he was a one way player that posted points but had miserable advanced stats. Now his procession and defensive numbers are up but he hasn't been able to keep up his production which suggests he's one of those very talented guys who just doesn't have the hockey sense to play a balanced game.

In other words lots of natural talent but his ability to adapt his game to both ends of the ice and be successful is weak.

    Ya that all makes sense.

Also, 1 thing about the draft that I thought was weird.....Why would Vegas not take Dumba? I'd love to have that guy. Unless I'm overrating him, I feel like he would be probably better than anyone on their roster and could compliment Methot. Not saying Haula was a bad move either but they wanted D-men obviously (took 13) but somehow passed 1 of the better ones available.

Perhaps they don't want any part of dumb on the squad.

    Yep.

Burns won the Norris for the reason Karlsson lost it in 2015/16. "Its not all about points" my ass. Karlsson was 20+ points over any defenceman that year, but was told his defence had to get better. And this year it did - tremendously. Both in +- and NHL leader in blocked shots. Burns on the other hand was a giveaway machine.

So yeah, I cant help but feel bad for him. Robbed for 2 years now. Should have been in the running for the Hart as well IMO.

At least Anderson got the recognition he deserved. What a story.

Agree 100%. EK is more than just points, now. He is a tremendous overall player. And like I said, really I think Hedman is amazing overall as well. But I get the reason why ppl like Burns. He is dangerous with that shot, but other than that I think he's overrated.
