    8-10 grand? Maybe if he got the bolt in toyota diesel for free. Diesel conversions are not cheap, I am looking at one now.

    Unless you are a mechanic and fabricator and electrical genius, then I can see it being a cheap swap.

    ive seen lots of 4bt cummins swapped rangers and tacomas done for less than 10 grand. also talked to a guy at a car show that built a Tahoe with a 5.9 swap and he said it costed 11 grand. that's around 9 grand usd. even if that guy put 20 grand into that swap it still doesn't make a 6000 land cruiser worth 36k

    Must be people not being charged hour labor then, with the custom wiring/electrical and all the fab needed. I should look into a cummings then, the tacoma D-4D is 28gs, 11k of that is labor alone.

    Side note, 80's are becoming all the rage right now. Hard to find a clean one for cheap right now.

    But I agree, 36 is still a bit steep, but he may get it.

    I know people do 4bt swaps in rangers and 1st gen tacos cause apparently it fits right in with minor modifications then you just buy the conversion kit. 6bt is a different story

    the D-4D swap will smog, no lights and it will pass emissions. with a extrnded range tank added and doubling my mpg, ill have 4 rotopax to sell and wont need them mounted. big plans :thumbsup:
