    Didn't expect them to need turned already...

    Just got them back on, manually adjusted the rear until they started to drag but the parking brake doesn't work anymore. Apparently i must have to manually adjust the parking brake under the console? :frusty:

    Isss everything connected? If it was working before and not now, It had to have been doing the install, possibly when you did the shoes?

    Yeah... I am adjusting the thing under the console but I'm almost out of adjustment now.

    I put it all together, spun the wheel until the shoes started hitting the drum on each side. Then put it back together, drive it forward and back, brakes worked.

    Parking brake easily went to the floor, no drag. Popped the center console, adjusting the mechanism under there and i now am able to get it to grab, wheels in the air i can push the pedal all the way down and am still able to turn the wheels by hand (there is a bit of drag). But I'm almost out of length on the adjuster rod thing.

    Yea I think something must have gotten messed up. I dont think you should have to adjust from inside the truck in this situation

    Generally all your brake adjustment should be done at the rear drums. The cable tension should be set with the drums off visually watching the parking brake struts.

    My guess, you did one adjustment and didn't pump the brakes to settle the shoes then adjust again?

    I adjusted both of the star wheels until they started to drag. Put wheels on, pushed the pedal while in the air and they still had the same drag.

    Put it on the ground and went forward backward, then noticed the parking brake was useless.

    When i jacked it up again after realizing that the center console adjustment bottomed out, i loosened that adjuster again and I checked the star wheel adjustment to follow the "lock up the drums and turn back 15 clicks" way and saw that I had to adjust them again quite a bit before they started to drag.

    So they currently have a little bit of drag, should i back them off until they have zero drag? A ton of wind and some rain blasted through and i gave up for the night. The drag on both sides is not uniform... They'll drag a little on both sides almost as if the drums aren't round (it's done this since the first time I checked them). It'll have a tiny bit of drag then nothing, then touch at the same part of the rotation.

    Some drag is normal. I don't use the back off method, more of a feeling of brake pedal and parking brake pedal travel. With the tire on the brakes should drag enough to prevent a full revolution, you would really like to see 2.

    New brakes will not have a good hold until the brakes are bedded in.

    Ok, thats basically what I set it to... and braking feels much better now! And no more nasty squeal from the rear.

    My landlord put the idea in my head for some way to get out onto the water whenever I camp near a lake/calm stream.... Then the other day when I was killing some time at a park, curiosity got the best of me and I checked out what Amazon had to offer. I found a pretty reasonably priced board. And I had a decent amount of points waiting to be spent, the rest is history.

    It arrived today, comes with everything you need. Seems pretty solid for the price. At 10ft its an "advanced" board for my height/weight, but I'll be there soon enough.

    HydroForce 10ft Inflatable Paddle Board

    And it does store nice and small. Everything is in the bag. Now i just need to make space for it in the truck. :annoyed:
