    Hey all,

Last weekend's temperatures have strongly encouraged me to tint my windows.

Any of you guys know of a good window tint place in the South Bay, preferably in Mountain View or around San Jose? What's the usual price for 4 windows and the rear window? And what's the usual amount people here are tinting to, without gaining attention from cops?

curious for the answer too as I've been debating tint.

I used to have 30% all around on my wrx. Never had any issues for 5 years until a couple months before I sold it. Got pulled over 5 minutes from home in Fremont and the rookie cop (with his training officer) gave me a ticket for my front windows being tinted. Aside from that, had one motorcycle cop approach me while parked in my driveway installing a roof rack telling me my front tint needs to go (verbal warning I guess you'd say).

TLDR: YMMV but I didn't have any issues with cops with 30% on the front side windows. The wrx didn't exactly blend in either (subaru blue color with dark tint and aftermarket wheels).

I actually requested a quote from him. Looks like there's three films to choose from: SUNTEK Carbon, CXP, and CIR. Which one did you go with?

I've gone with the middle one for 3 vehicles so far. It's great. It blocks 99% of UVA/B rays which was a must when I was trying to find film approved by the skin cancer association.

Thanks for the insights. The CXP is a little steeper in price than the quotes I've got around the area. But I might just go with Cesar, per your suggestion.

If you pay cash he might knock down the price for you a bit as well.

Mr. tint in San Jose. Brought 3 of my cars there and they always do a fantastic job. And they also include lifetime warranties for the tint. If they bubble or scratch you'll be covered!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I ended up going with Icon Window Tint in Mountain View for the sake of its location being near the office. They operate out of a gas station and do pretty good work.

I have used Quality Auto Glass and Tinting in Santa Clara for years. They've done 5 cars and good work. I'm hitting them up in a week or two....this heat blows.

I had my fronts done when I first got the truck and trying to be good....so now gotta sneak it in and hopefully it'll remain hot enough the windows won't need to be rolled down.

When I did my fronts at 50% we went on a road trip the next day and I was cringing when I saw the passenger window go down. :lalala:
