So back to vehicle registering. Has anyone here actually done it!? All I can find on the DMV site is you need a vehicle verification inspection. That doesn't look anything like a safety inspection.

I don't want to peel all of this tint off if I don't have to :)

When I registered my 2008 Tacoma from Utah, they did a walk around inspection, looked at all the VIN numbers, checked that the emissions stuff appeared to be there, and did a walk around. Then I had to get it weighed. Pulled as much as I could out, but couldn't get the camper shell off. Waited until I was nearly out of gas. Weighed in at 4400 pounds.

When I was done with the inspection and weighing, then I could register it.

Yes. And it's inconsistent at best. And frankly, all they really give a crap about are the smog stickers and the truck being CA smog legal.

I rode it last Saturday. The 1st few miles had lots of snow and beyond that it was super nice.

I drove to Poker Flat on Sunday but the river crossing was a bit too high for my liking. It was over waste deep and moving fast. When I lived in Arkansas I did lots of deep water crossings but this was moving! It should be good to go by now.

I also came across this truck stuck on a snow drift. The owners were no where to be seen. They'd left a couple notes on the truck saying they got stuck Saturday Morning. They walked to Poker Flat campground Sunday morning at 10am and would be back in 1.5 hours. Looking at my map there was no way that hike would be 1.5 hours. More like 3...which would have them returning any minute. I made lunch and waited for about 15 minutes and they showed up.

A very gentle tug and they were untuck. It turns out this was their first time camping and their first time off roading. The truck is a rental too. They were pretty happy to be unstuck.

Very nice of you to help them get unstuck.

Stupid question, how did you get the Fuelly data to show up in your signature?

I guess they didn't have an app for that.

Oh, wait, locker and crawl control.

    Yup, new truck too!

I asked them if they used the locker and they said yes. I didn't think to ask about the crawl control.

What I wish I'd done was asked if I could drive it. I haven't even been in a 3rd gen yet.
