Thinner side wall. 6ply vs 10 ply. Doesn't make a big difference unless they see abuse. I use them a lot in the desert and rocks so wanted a stronger sidewall

Surprised the Red lettering is so limited on these. Well, at least in the sizes I would want anyway :(

I recall the same in 265/70/r16 I tried the at2 when they first came out I wanted these so bad but they were LT rated and we're to much for my auto transport I couldn't run cruise on the hwy so they were tradedicated for p rated tires.

I have the general grabber X3's. I like them but they are a little more aggressive than I'm used to. I'm a BFG KO2 fanboy so it was a difficult decision but I'm glad I chose these. They are a little louder but thats to be expected with a mud terrain. Brownie points were they had the red letters which matches my Barcelona red OR better than expected. Traction off pavement is like glue. Can't speak for snow just yet. Road manners are acceptable. I've had alot worse *cough* Pro comp M/T2 *cough*

I'm looking at the x3 in 285/75/16 as well. It was between the x3's and the nitto trail grappler s but the x3's run slightly smaller so I think I will probably be going with the generals. Will post up my experience with them in a few weeks.

That's what I think xoverland has. Those always have the newest gear, because their sponsored by General Tire among others.

Is there anyone running these X3s that have also had Duratracs? I'm mainly looking for a comparison in the ride and how noisy are they compared to the Duratracs? Are they louder or not as loud? I'm looking at these and the Duratracs in a c load rating. Thanks!

OK, so I just wanted to give a short term update. The x3's are still awesome off road but the on road manners have deteriorated quickly. Wet traction has proven to be minimal on pavement due to the lack of sipping in the tires and large voids in the tread. I've slid around turns more than I'd care to admit doing only a few MPH more than posted (3-5 MPH). Road noise has been manageable but still more than expected at only 1500 miles on them. being that I went 285/70R17, my only option was E rated so the ride combined with the OME 2 inch with dakars is very harsh and hoppy. Lot's of vibration after countless balancing and Roadforcing and alignments ( I have the equipment, all brand new, and I had them recalibrated because of these). I love the aesthetics of the X3's. But being that most of my driving is pavement and light trails / fire roads first, and technical trails second, I'm going to be switching back to BFG KO2's in a D load rating.

    END RESULT:
-If you are looking for an aggressive tire, great traction off road and don't care about ride quality ( mind these are E rated so your results might be very different than mine) then this is the tire for you. Red letters being a plus and bad@ss looking.
-If most of your driving is on road and adventure vehicle second (and I think that's most of us here) then you would be hard pressed to beat an average all-terrain tire like a KO2, Wildpeak A/T, Grabber A/T II's, etc.

Hope this helps everyone in their choosing of the next set of rubbers. *Giggity*
