Why not? Toyota sells vehicles that typically have better resale value than domestics. The Toyota sales people push that point when they sell them.

I could have bought many other vehicles that were better equipped and cost less than my truck but I bought this truck based on dependability and resale value. Both of which are in question.

Toyota knowingly covered all this stuff up and it is hurting the resale value that otherwise wouldn't have been effected. They will probably win. People can sue for anything these days, and actually win.

Sounds like another warning label is in the works to inform the stupid people that the value of there investment MAY go down. People need to understand that making an investment involves RISK!!! Wow, these are the people that really piss me off!

A problem does exist, toyota has acknowledged it. They should have just owned up to it first and fixed stuff the right way.

First it was the floor mats, then the pedals, now there are ECU updates.

No, if you are more likely to die from a shark attack than from a "defect" in your car, the problem in your car does not exist. It is a statistical aberration that is impossible to remove from the system no matter how good your quality control is.

Let me explain how this "problem" came to be in 5 simple steps:

1) One Toyota vehicle in California (land of the eternal idiot) accelerated out of control and crashed, killing four people.

2) There was a dramatic 911 phone call that the media could play for ratings.

3) Toyota has a lot of exposure and is one of the best known brands on the planet. By running anything with "Toyota" in it, media outlets are guaranteed views. Politicians are guaranteed attention. Everyone piles on.

4) Politicians and television talking heads endlessly talk about this "problem" which does not exist mathematically, enough so that suburban housewives and ignorant American TV audiences actually start to think it's true because they've heard it on TV so much.

5) Toyota, realizing that people are too stupid to understand that a problem does not exist and that they will be skewered in the media, just say they'll fix the problem rather than point out that the vast majority of their customer base is poorly educated and unintelligent. After all, they need them to keep buying cars. This is the most cost effective solution.


Believe this crap if you want it. Over the past decade, Toyota has sold more than 15 million vehicles in the US. There have been *potentially* 34 deaths due to "unintended acceleration". Many more have died in vanilla auto accidents.

The risk of DRIVING is higher than the risk of unintended acceleration. THE. PROBLEM. DOES. NOT. EXIST.

This is a made up problem to sell air time and let some congressmen pretend to be doing something. The sooner everyone starts ignoring it, the better.
