I heard rumblings of tighter restrictions here. I guess there's a couple big fires in Az now. Some people at work want me to get red carded (fire qualified) but I don't want anything to do with it. After 20.5 years in the military, the last thing I want to do is end up in a camp with a bunch of people, organized into groups by job type, eating food prepared in a moblie kitchen and sleeping in tents.

After reading and seeing some of the hell that you have been through with the heat and humidty almost hate to post this. Almost, talk to me in January.

    Screenshot_20170623.jpg

Most of the week has been pretty decent and the same very low humidity and low temps for June. I'll take it, and hope it moves East for you all soon. Pay enough of a price 6 months of the year there has to be some type of carrot in the end. Can break 100* with 90% humidity at any time too though.

Spending the weekend doing outside chores and getting the house cleaned. I hate it when I put my glasses on and see just how dirty some things in the house are. So try not to wear them but I did so now it bothers me. And dogs, they are still separated huge fight through the gate tonight over toys. So no more toys for them tonight. Thought I was done with kids. I am starting to like this idea of grandkids...

Got 2 pounds of meat rub delivered from the group buy on here for the Pitfaced BBQ Rub-a-dub rub today. Picked up 2 chuck roast tonight and going to do some burnt ends on the smoker tomorrow. Baked beans on the bottom rack with sausage and bacon. Slaw. On Hawaiian sweet rolls. Strawberries for desert. And now I'm hungry again. No ketchup. Unless Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce counts.

This is actually my 7th year of desert, so I'm coming around. I started in El Centro (50 miles west of here) in 2010. The other 8/9 months of the year are pretty nice. It was a little rough today welding, but I got an early start, had plenty of cold water, have a decent shade structure to work under and have a big porta-cool. I like to get things done but know there's no reason to really bust ass doing it when it gets like this. Sept/October this will be just another summer gone by. Tomorrow is supposed to be another 115+ day, so I'll get chores done early and relax the rest of the day. Just another day in the life...

After the winter you had, you deserve some time outside, Mike.

6 heat strokes. Nothing like waking up in a stainless steel tub of ice water with a thermometer sticking out of every orifice of your body and a bunch of corpsman trying to push you back in yelling and screaming about core temperature.

Some say if it doesn't kill you it causes brain damage. Well my Ex did LOL. But it isn't a laughing matter. Then there was about a dozen times of passing out of heat exhaustion. Martin when I say please be careful I mean it. I know you are though. However once your body has been damaged from the heat it is a hard recovery after that.

The cold can do that too, it did my father who was a truck driver in Upstate NY and exchanged trailers in the middle of the winter at night. Exit 24 on the turnpike usually. Eventually he couldn't operate the dolly to lift the trailer his hands couldn't handle it. There has to be a place in between. Washington State and Oregon on the West coast come to mind I can deal with black ice. North Carolina on the East coast and I lived all over the State there, a lot of people retire there much like Oregon. They call them half backs there. Retirees go back and forth from North to South and they make it half way back and decide it is a good place to live, a comprise.

Once upon a time with a good retirement you could live in the North in the summer and have a house in the South for the winter. Where that was depended on where the grand kids lived too. That is a hard one to do now days with most retirements. And you better have decent health care at both places from what I have seen.

Just thinking out loud. Can't do too many more of these winters. On the other hand if I didn't have to go outside maybe I could.

No rest for the weary ... pace yourself Kevin ... and please stay hydrated.

    Hard to argue...:blahblah:

Can I go to the Post Office?

    x2

Enjoy the shopping along the way...:sorry: cheap shot :p

    Good point.

    Close enough
Now I'm hungry ... I'll be eating my mooseburger dirty rice early tonight. :hungry:

I see AK Summers and AZ Winters in my future ... wanna ride shotgun?
I imagine Kristi will spend more time in AZ and want to fly back and forth. I'm thinking some sort of 3/4 to 1 ton truck with camper making a month passage either way every Spring and Fall. :notsure: Of course that's 10 to 15 years down the road yet ... if I last that long. ;)

Time for work. Sleep well my friends.

Yes I would love to ride shotgun :) At most 6 years for me could be 3 but not ready and don't see it. Because I don't have a SOP in place.

Yeah there is that if you last that long and you better!

Living my dream Rob. It would be a 5th wheeler with a toy hauler pulling the ATV in the back. Down through Montana for sharpies and phez and finally hitting Az. for Gambel's quail.

But all 3 of my sister are likely to end up in NC. So I am obligated to go there. But it will be in the Western part of the State, can't do the Piedmont area or Coastal any more. For almost 100 years now it was Florida for the family. On the other hand both my sons ride the short school bus and I may just end up where I am at.

Jealous of you brother. You are living my dream. Yeah life doesn't deliver what you expect. And it is always a struggle, it doesn't always turn out like you plan. Or for your children. But considering everything you have a pretty good plan IMO :)
