Times are changing bro. The "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" can only brush the real issues at hand under the rug for so long. For the time being, yes, I think now is the wrong time to be changing it. But it will be an issue that has to be addressed. As far as how, well, its going to be reoccurring issues that happened with the other two. 1. Race 2. Gender 3. Sexual Preference

It won't be easy, and I'm sure hell will be raised. But again, nothing the military hasn't experienced already, and like the other two, it will grow and evolve.

That's a pity. I wasn't looking to agree, I just truly valued your insight. After all, I'm not in the service. Maybe you didn't care for mine.

    C17, thanks for the thoughts.

I'm on the fence on the whole gay issue. My issue is why must everyone change and accept because someone choses a life style.I don't ever remember reading anything about freedom of sexual orientation in the constitution.I really don't care what people do in there own home but don't through it in my face.If most that posted in this thread were in a combat arms mos than i think most would understand where the op is coming from.It is not the time to change the don't ask don't tell policy.

meh.... haha, you are right I do have horrible grammer... I'm also watching the news, answering a million questions from my kid, studying for a test, and reading these forums... so grammer kind of went out the window.

how did I contradict myself? You are right they should follow the UCMJ, when DoD and congress change it (which they should) then the gays can come out and openly serve... shipmate

I really don't see what the big deal is... you'll get over it. I served for 8.5 years in the Submarine Service. It doesn't get much more close quarters than that. It's not like they are going to jump you and have your way with you.

I can see your point, but get over it... you are implying the gays cannot control themselve sexually. Can you as a heterosexual?

now, I do understand that the personality of those in the infantry does tend to be more homophobic on average... well they are going to have change.

they already serve and people know wbout them, so whats the big deal? i had a gay supervisor when i was active duty and we all knew. no one gave him shit about it, we still invited him to keggers and still went to his place for parties and post-deployment get togethers. UCMJ has needed to change reguardless of the outcome of "dont ask, dont tell." look at all the hypocrites that say we need to stick to the UCMJ, but then go and get BJs and bang a chick in the ass, and thats against the UCMJ as well.

i guess the bigots already want seperate shower stalls for basic and proven heterosexuals for when they have to take a piss test?? get over yourselves

okay, well... they are allowed to serve openly as a bigot... but a gay cannot serve openly as a gay? I meant that everyone (minus felons, physically incapable) should be allowed to serve.

i could deal w/ that...bigots could speak openly about hating gays, then get their asses kicked by the gays and the people that support gays....i call that fair

You say get over it, but in reality, its not that easy. You can't argue that the military type will accept it easily and quickly. That's just not going to happen.

As far controlling your sexuality, explain the countless SARC charges and rape charges occurring on bases around the world? Who's to say that homosexuals will be any different? Personally I doubt they would, but really can't say until the situation presents itself.

^Dude, you need to fucking chill. Can women fight in the military too? Cause they might like a look at your cock too?

    Damn straight.

Second of all, last I checked you get Military personal from the civilians. The same people you constantly whine about protecting their right to vote.

So...they're going to fucking vote. It's like women in the military. So long as they can do the job, who cares who they like to fuck?

I think there's a huge difference yet a fine line between a homosexual in the military who keeps it to himself, and doing away with the policy and openly admitting it.
