I went through a bunch of those, got tired of waiting for accurate temp to show.

That sounds pretty much like what I experience with mine... there's no consistency, therefore it's worthless.

Weber instant read digital thermometer, $ 9.99 at wally world. Works good for me and pretty accurate, im sure not as good as the $100 ones but with $90 BUCKS LEFT in my pocket that's a lot of ribs, chicken and charcoal!

The Weber was my fave of the cheapies, but it still took 20 seconds to get an accurate reading. I've grown to depend on the 2 second reading with the Thermapen.

I got A lavatools javelin pt12 on sale for like $12. It reads pretty quick and has an accuracy of .9 degrees. Would buy one again.

It's Saturday, and no pics of anything yet?

I'll start. This was a 15 lb choice packer before trimming. I didn't go the whole way down between the point and flat, and left 1/4" fat on. She went on at 12:30. Using hickory and a little apple for this one. I went with a SPOG rub, and added a little of my pork rub that I had left for some sweet that the wife likes. I'm going to try burnt ends with it anyway, so I don't think it'll hurt it any. This thing is 21" long, had to curl it up to fit in that pan.

Maybe I'm just hungover af, but that thing is tripping me out. Looks like some Salvador Dali thing. I can't tell what it's made of. What is it?

Edit: oh, I see it now. 2x2s on top of 2x6s. The shadowing plays tricks on the eye. Maybe I had an acid flashback.

    I'd say cedar or redwood.

Luckily the wife and kid weren't home, and I wasn't out there when she exploded. Still trying to figure out wtf happened. Took me two hours to clean at that mess up. Broom, shovel, shop vac, hose... Fun times.

I think the umbrella blew and put pressure on it. the whole table blew over earlier this spring with one of the storms that blew through. I was hoping it would have went then. I looked at it then, and didn't notice any fractures. Maybe there was a hairline crack from that event that decided to go today.

Tempered glass is under a lot of internal stress so any minor inclusion from the earlier incident may have lead to it exploding. It's very common.

I don't remember if the gasket was in or not. Either way, it's done, now the patio can be reconfigured with better stuff and more room.
