My brother just bought a Trail solely for that reason. Love his 4 Runner, but I love my Tacoma more :)

The pro in USA does not.

One of those weird USA /Canada model differences Toyota seems to do

We also only get the premium models (sr5 and trail/trd) no base 4runners

My $runner OR PRemium has Sunroof,
My 17 4Runner Offroad Premium has most of what you mentioned above.

Pretty sure the second quote is everything my Tacoma has that the 4Runner TRD Offroad doesn't.

I have a 17 4Runner TRD Offroad and 17 Tacoma TRD Offroad in my driveway if you'd like to compare lol

A lot of the options are location dependant. West coast has moonroof and KDSS on all premium trails (TRD OR Premium now?), Texas area doesn't give you the option of KDSS. Moonroof is optional on the East coast.

I have a 2016 OR TRD AC until July 9. The 4Runner I have ordered (Offroad Premium) has KDSS, Moonroof, heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators and puddle lights, hood scoop, and rear spoiler; roof rails, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support; four-way power adjustable front passenger seat, Homelink® universal transceiver w/Auto-dimming rearview mirror, EntuneTM Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes with Multi-Terrain ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, Locking rear differential, Multi-terrain Select and Crawl Control. I'm not trying to argue, just comparing what I thought was a loaded Offroad TRD truck to the new 4Runner.

For mid 40 thousand (not sure if thats the OR cost, basing this off a sticker I looked at last week on a 4runner and gagged), I'll stick to the 'ol tacos.

Love me truck, I wouldn't be changing but the family is growing and the 4Runner gives me nearly everything my truck does except the bed.

Your taco doesn't have 4 doors? They don't need that much more leg room. If they do, let Mom's ride take the hit!

That I can understand, but still, 4 door OR is cheaper than a 4runner!

I got my 4Runner for 3% over invoice. Which put it within a couple grand of a trd off road Tacoma. The Tacoma in my area is msrp or bust. That coupled with 0.99% financing and if anything I'm actually paying less for my trail premium runner. The double cab Tacoma isn't ideal for kids in the back seat, ask anyone that has either owned a full size truck or SUV like the 4Runner.
I put my 2 year old in the back of my access cab Tacoma, but I didn't pay 40+K for it. 6k to be exact.

I'm sure there are deals to be had, especially with financing. But based on what I saw at the dealer near me I'd make the same purchase over again with that set of circumstances. We have the misses' Corolla if need be. Plenty of people survive with "minimal" room anyways ;)

Hows the resale been on runners? I haven't really followed them much.

As far as resale goes it's high. I'd say on par with Tacoma at minimum.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Tacoma. Just not as family friendly as a runner.

Thats a great deal. Did it come with mats, side steps, or anything else?

In Hawaii, all the 4runners come with roof racks and steps. We got a Gobi rack and sliders, I can't give the roof rack and steps away since every 4Runner already has them.
I think it's a better buy than the taco. And all the trails/ORs come with KDSS. I couldn't get a non KDSS trail for the wife.
And since my wife is from Japan, being made in Japan is a big deal for her.

Hawaii sounds like Canada. Ours all come with side steps, roof racks, mud flaps, carpet and rubber floor mats, and kdss only on trail/OR

When I convert what I paid Canadian for my 2016 TEP it works out to under 33k USD
