I don't think the TSB required dropping the trans or removing the shifter. IIRC it was a bolt on the side that has a spring and ball that need swapped out.

Update: Just spoke with dealer and first service person didn't show anything under my VIN#. She transferred me to their "in-house Tacoma specialist" and he immediately knew and confirmed what you guys mentioned. Fix is a new spring and ball pin. This impacted about half of '16 6MT Tacomas, and was fixed for all '17s. Parts are ordered and getting fixed on Friday.

Same here, I had to adjust my footwork a bit to avoid the clunks/clanks.

My complaints re: the transmission are very minor. First, poor pedal arrangement and sizing that makes heel toe difficult, if not impossible for me to perform. I suppose the extremely short gas pedal and wide gap from the brake was corporate's response to unintended acceleration caused by pedal getting stuck under the floor mats. I think I may eventually move to an aftermarket gas pedal.
Secondly, throttle lag. Downshifting from 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 is not a problem. Going to 2nd is a challenge. Even if I floor the pedal when blipping, the revs barely climb above idle. I'm experimenting with duration of blip, rather than magnitude. Works better, but after over 45 yrs of driving, it's difficult to break old habits. Hoping the OV tune will fix this DBW lag.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL bumper sticker
Hi everyone. I have been driving my 4 cylinder SR for more than a year with no issues. Few days ago I have noticed that when stooped on the incline in neutral my brakes hold for almost two seconds after I lift my foot off the brake. Has anyone here experienced the same issue? is this something that needs my attention?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is not an issue. That is to help with hill starts and the brakes release when you tap the gas.

It show HAC comes on SR, but says AT only.
It also says the same for the Sport, but HAC comes on the MT Sport too, right?

The only thing I know for sure is it doesn't come on the MT Off Road.

As long as I come to a complete stop with the brake pressed, it will hold me there until I press the gas and start going. If I come to a roll and feather the clutch and throttle back and forth it won't, but if I stop completely it will.

Just picked up my truck yesterday. Had one mile when I took for test drive. Drove 130 miles home. I notice that when shifting from first to 2 and 3 I here a rattle from underneath driver side when shifting. Goes away after the acceleration. Almost sounds like loose heat shield? Noticed driving down the dirt driveway same type noise. Never purchased a new vehicle before and would like to think all is well but of course any out of the ordinary noise is concerning. Also shifting into R seems pretty tough. Will this loosen over time. I'm good with it but my wife could struggle and she's a tough chick:)
