I took the similar ALICE training recently. Also hope to never have to use it. Unfortunately we're the only building in the MA Trial Court system that operates 24/7 yet doesn't have security.

I need to do better at quoting. Drain bung mentioned he wanted to be on vacation forever, I commented about my hood rats being on vacation.

Do you just need to do bed checks on the patients or something?

Yeah, just make sure people don't do anything stupid. I'm an ER nurse but there's a problem with psych patients across the country. After Regan closed psych hospitals in the 80s, there aren't as many places for psych places to go. Pts have to be held in the ED, so much so that my hospital has made a unit to watch them while they get placed in psych facilities. And the state/county has no incentive to create more beds or another facility because they know we have to keep them here by law.

I think any job is going to have spans of boredom.

You just need to find things that can occupy your mind until the next adrenaline producing event occurs. We look forward to the excitement, when its over, we notice time just crawls.

    Thank God for this site.

Yeah, I'm usually down in the main ED. Then again theoretically any one of the psych patients can snap at any time.
