Ok so I made a huge mistake by going thru a road that was flooded cause I didn't think it was that bad. So it stalled my truck and got water all in the engine. I towed it home and have been working on it. Water all in the exhaust, motor. I took all the intake manifold off and water was everywhere to the engine. I drained all the oil and water came out first of course then the old oil. Got everything cleared out I thought. Took out spark plugs and Cranked the engine manually with a wrench. Put new spark plugs back in. Took the exhaust off to clear out water. Can't get it all out for some reason. Still have it off. Put new oil back in and tried to fire it up. It will crank over fine and sounded ok just won't fire. I had to take the fuel filter loose and air pressure came out when I did. I'm thinking it might not be getting fuel cause this. I re-connected it but does it have to have pressure on it? What else can I look for? Need serious help. Anything would be appreciated!

Comments like this are not needed and don't help. I know I made a mistake and I'm really pissed off about it. I don't need negativity right now. Thank you.

I think he's just sharing your frustration, no disrespect intended. Plus it bumps your thread to the top on the homepage.

Ok. I'm just really upset about this. I love this truck and did such a stupid thing. Don't know what to do.

Check fuel pressure if you think it's missing that.

Motors need Air, Spark And gas.. my first thought would be the Coil packs might be fried, but since you disconnected the fuel line, it might be vapor locked, might need to purge the injector rail and make sure fuel is reaching the cylinders.

You probably have water in your diffs/ transmission too so don't overlook that. If your able to crank it with the key and by hand that's great! When I hydrolocked my girls 4runner we couldn't get the engine to rotate at all, the cause was a broken connecting rod and a piston that was just flopping around. Change your fuel filter, scan for codes and clear them, maybe use a little starting fluid to get you going. Since you pulled the intake manifold off, make sure you have all your connections reattached and to the right spots, this is what caused my no start after my engine swap. You need to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Also I'm still drunk from last night and typing on an iPhone so hopefully the spellings okay for everyone here. :anonymous:

Stupid question but how do you purge the injector rail?

On domestic cars they had a "air valve" but not on the toy, so really you just have to keep cranking the engine over till the air passes through the rail.

Check compression. Could have bent some valves.

Mine has a green "air valve" looking thing on it too. Do I have to put air in it somehow or should it build back pressure when I try to start?

My steps for reviving a flooded engine.
Step 1. Get it out of the water.
    Step 2. Drain engine oil.
Step 3. Refill engine oil with new oil also swap out the filter.
    Step 4. Pull spark plugs.
    Step 5. Pull intake manifold
Step 6. Pull exhaust headers off and drain them.
Step 7. Pull fuel pump relay.
Step 8. Drain all the water you can out of the lower intake manifold.
Step 9.Crank engine over by hand with a cheater bar at the crank. Turn over 2 full rotations. If it turns smoothly proceed to step 10.
Step 10. Turn engine over with the key several times to blow all water out of cylinders and intake. Do this for a while. Your not going to damage anything that hasn't been damaged by flooding it. There is no compression in the cylinders because spark plugs have been pulled.
Step 11. After all parts have been dried, reassemble engine.
Step 12. Install new spark plugs.
Step 13. Start truck and verify all other fluids are not contaminated.
If truck fails to start. Verify fuel quality is ok
    Check for spark, compression check.

Fired electronics wouldn't stop it from the engine firing up would it?

I've done everything said. On 13 doesn't work yet. I'll have to check the fuel and compression.

Unhook the fuel line at the rain and have a buddy turn the key on while you hold a clear glass to collect a sample. The gas and water will separate. Get a compression gauge and check each individual cylinder.
