It's not numbers matching and it's not the real desirable 71 Cuda' but that's ok with me. The previous owner already had it down to bare metal to identify what the real condition is and he put it back in epoxy primer to stop any additional rust.

I'm going to do a resto-mod Pro-touring car. All updated coil over suspension front and back, new power brakes with disc. The fuel system is already brand new.
I have to replace both rear quarter panels, 1/2 of the trunk pan and a small area of rust to fix under the drivers rocker panel.
The 360 Motor and trans are in good shape so I will stick with the 360 motor for a few years, then swap to a new modern Hemi.

I was referring to mine. It hasn't fallen off yet. It got some fresh love marks yesterday though.

Yeah dunno. Similar looking truck pulled up to us and asked if we were leaving when we were getting setup.

Nice. I did notice the rust on the rear quarters. But if that is all the rust on it that doesn't sound to bad at all. Also sounds like a great plan too. Get it up and running and use what you have then invest in the other stuff later.

Since we're talking about our non-truck toys today, I met up with a friend of mine on Friday evening to snap some pics of a bike I built.

These pics are for a feature on pipeburn.com, which is a pretty big custom bike blog.

It turned out pretty good. Especially when you consider that it looked like this when I brought it home.

Solid build! I look forward to seeing it as I gaze longingly for hours upon hours on PipeBurn...

First bike build or do you do them often?

I try to do them "often" but they take awhile, and this whole "real life" thing gets in the way a lot. I've had enough people ask me to build them bikes that I figured I might try making a go of it as a "business" (the Virago is a commissioned build for a customer). The numbers don't pencil out to quit my job and do it full time though, so it's basically a hobby that pays for itself.

That's awesome, man! And you even got compliments from Richard/Mule! That guy does some amazing work. I'll be keeping an eye out for your work. And who knows... maybe I'll be a customer.

I've been trying to do some custom bike building for years, but life always seems to get in the way. Last bike I tried was a '71 Honda CL450 Scrambler. It was awesome (TLS front drum, funky DOHC, 45hp, high pipes), but needed a lot of work (and aftermarket/NOS parts for those things are really hard to find, and really expensive). Spent years tearing things apart, but had to move to ND for work for a year. Ended up selling it to a guy up around Vancouver, BC. Turned out he specializes in the CB/CL450's. A couple years after I sold it to him, he text me out of the blue and said it was all finished up, and he wanted to ask me first if I wanted it back before he posted an ad for it. Those nice Canadians...

Welcome. New to Washington? There are also tons of places to go off hiway 20 and a bunch of random roads in and around Oso, Darrington area.
