dealership talking junk about my truck

i get some work (ie axle seals, bearings ect...) done at the local stealership, however they have had mediocre work done to the axle seals, cause one of them keeps blowin and i keep returning it to be fixed under warrenty ( record for it bursting is 3 hours).

i have a friend that recently got a job there and he told me how much shit the other techs talk about my truck and how they hate when ever it comes in because im just going to mess up their work and its a pita to take off the skid plate


should i take it back still a=or eat the money and find a different stealer, i just want nothin on my truck forked up from uncaring techs, but i want the warrenty on our shitty axle seals

 

If the warranty is offered through toyota you should be able to take it any dealership. They shouldn't mind doing the work since they get paid by toyota to do so. goodluck

 

Just keep taking it back. If you can take it to another dealer. You shouldn't be worried if they f up something that would be their job. In these times mechanics are a dime a dozen.

 

next time you take your truck to get serviced get the techs some donuts... oh and fart into the donut box a couple times and close the lid really fast so

 

I'm a tech at Acura so I know what they are going through! It's not you...it's your truck. It just get's frustrating if a vehicle keeps coming in over and over. It's like you're married to it. But obviously something else is going on if it keeps blowing seals. I'd ask them if they could look into the mating surface for the seal or the actual axle itself to see if there are any problems. Oh and warranty pays CRAP compared to customer pay. That's why you always here techs complain when a car comes in under warranty with a shit list of issues.

P.S.----buying the service area breakfast is ALWAYS a good idea. We LOVE some sausage biscuits in the mornings. Go to Bojangles or someplace that has them for a dollar a piece. Hook the whole service area up. It will show your appreciation even though you know its a headache...for you and them.

 

Ha. I can't believe techs would be like that. If there was another "stealer ship" close by, I would take it elsewhere. Sure, these guys are responsible for the work but it's an inconvenience to be going back and forth.

 

Wouldn't you be pissed if you got payed half of what you do now to do the same job? I'm just trying to point out that you need to look at it from all angles. I definitely agree that they need to stop throwing parts at it and actually find out what's wrong here. Try and see if you can get the foreman to look at it.

if the record for a seal blowout is 3 hrs. wtf are those so called mechanics doing? if they dont wanna see your truck again, fix it. quit doing a (BAND AID FIX). i would just do it myself. and the skid plate they bitch about takes 3 mins to install with an air rathchet. maybe they should go play yoville on myspace.

 

Let them talk shit, they're obviously not fixing it right the first time so let it be a pain in the ass for them, maybe they'll figure it out... maybe.

 

If it keeps blowing out then there HAS to be something going on. If I were to look at it...I'd inspect the axle first. And if I had any suspect of the axle after looking at it, I'd throw one in there. It's on Toyota's dime not the dealers.

 

Do you really have 232,000 miles on this truck? If so, the seal is not the issue, it is the symptom. IMO.

Did you tell them to replace the seal or are they actually looking for the cause of the seal failure? There is either a groove or a bearing with play that is likely the root.

 

i have 240,000 replaced both front axle seals and cv 8 months ago, while doing an oil change noticed tons of diff fluid, front right seal burst, they fixed, a few hours later it burst on my dads garage, they replaced said it was warped as was the other, and now its burst again and the cv they replaced died, but im not holding them for the cv cause of my lift

 

Don't take your truck in on a Monday, Friday, or Saturday.

Ah....so it's under a parts warranty! That's a whole nother' ball game. They keep replacing the seal because that's all toyota will pay for...the part and the labor for that part. (since you are out of your regular warranty...anything done at the dealer with genuine parts is covered under a parts warranty. Usually 12months/12,000 miles depending on manufacture) . They probably know that there is something else gong on but just keep replacing the seal because they know they are screwed if they have to come back and tell you that you have to spend more money because they messed up on their initial diagnosis. This is EXACTLY why my dealership has a high mileage disclaimer that all customers with vehicles over 100K have to sign. It pretty much states that other parts or components may fail or be failing that are non related to the issue at hand. If they didn't present this to you, then in all actuality you have the right to have them fix it RIGHT for free. But you sound reasonable. I may try and go in there an level with them and have them find out what REALLY is going on and offer a 50/50 split on the cost to fix what is blowing out the seals. This will keep you in there good graces and them in yours. I mean in all honesty, you can't expect a vehicle to not have other issues at over 200K...but neither can the dealer. Thus the 50/50 if they messed up.

Try to go during the weekday as well. Saturday is never a good day for anything besides oil changes at most dealers.

The "good & Bad"....The service writer if NOT the Service manager should have "Flagged' this after the 2nd visit.........Toyota will only "Pay" what is required BUT IF the faulty part ( or housing ) is not sole problem,request for additional time/$$ ...fix it right and KEEP THE CUSTOMER.....

The "Tech" getting bit@#y ...DUH, you want your EX showing up to screw your weekend....BUT how do you,the "Tech" remedy that....ASK to get this PIA fixed;properly and finally....

The "Customer" ; ASK the service writer/manager to assist in you both keeping your Saturdays apart .......QS notes for the same VIN over & over raise "Flags".....Good reports make bonuses easier to gain ..

Buying breakfast,coffee or lunch for a "Tech" NEVER hurt anyone and showing someone the "human side" creates respect "paid foward"...neat concept ..

I TOTALLY agree with this. Yes, it's a warenty issue and the techs should do their job and fix it....it's their job; BUT Buying them donuts or sausage biscuits is cheep insurance! If you want someone to bust thier ass for you, the best way to get that is with some appereation. (my spelling sucks, I know). When I was having my house re-sided and new windows put in, every morning I had a cooler with a bunch of pop, (even offered beer, but the workers said never on the job) and bought donuts for them a couple times. They worked on my house as if it was their own. Get them something and appologise for keep coming back...it will help gain some simpothy. They don't hate you, they probablely don't even hate your truck, they hate the gremblins in your truck! And getting them on your side by doing this, may make them say..."fuck this...I'm not letting this truck beat me!" lol Hey techs have egos too and hate being beat by a problem.
