When I was younger I went through some standing water with my '89 IROC-Z. The air intakes on those cars was behind the fog lights, so water went right up into the engine. When I finally got it restarted it knocked, and I sold it for $1k. Very stupid decisions I made back then, both driving through the water and selling the car for a thousand bucks.

Drive any newer car or truck with all the electronics in them now days through high water, and you can pretty much junk it.My friend drove his 1997 Ford F-350 diesel through high water and it destroyed his electrical system,a repair shop wanted 7 grand too try and fix it,but in the end he sold it for parts.That.s why I always though snorkels were a complete joke, just for show.

Snorkles are to get clean air from above. Then people started to use it for high water crossing.

I doubt 2 feet is not going too magically get you cleaner air than hood level for the most part.

Our stock intake is from the wheel well, not hood level. Snorkels are for sandy desert driving where yes the air is cleaner above the roof.

Remove your maf and clean it... A few times. Remove all the vacuum lines and purge if you haven't yet. Remove the covers right of the passenger side footwell drop and disconnect everything. Clean and dry connectors. Dissemble both boxes that were dropped and clean and thoroughly dry. Also remove the center console and disconnect all wires going into the Ecu, dry and reconnect. Check fuses, dry if necessary. If you have a odb2 reader hook it up after everything is dry. If it can connect and read, your Ecu may be ok. This just happened to me this past weekend. My engine is running well so far.

I have the insurance adjuster coming out Friday to look at it. Going to hault doing anything else till he looks at it. I hear from everyone it should "total" it. Then I might consider buying it back if the price is right.

Anyone know if a 2wd ECU will be the same for a 4wd? Also TRD make a difference?
