The BPF requires you to use your original oem skid. I had it before my TRD Pro skid. All other skids besides BPF is a direct replacement. The TRD Pro skid doesn't need the original, hence why I have mine off.

So now I'm starting to lean toward the IFS skid plate.

Ohhh, lol now we have a debate. If I can find a TRD pro skid plate on island, I might just actually go with that.

lol I say TRD Pro or RCI since it has a removable part for easy access for oil changes.

I'd go mobtown over rci just purely off of looks. Not a big fan of the rci cut out design and logo.

If I were to go with mob town, the shipping would be $192. :annoyed:

This is why I hate living in Hawaii, everything has to be shipped. Sometimes the shipping costs just as much as the fkn product itself lol.

Bro, check my build. I've spent thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars just for shipping parts.

Trust me I know all about shipping car parts, I came from the import scene. One of the reasons I left was because of the high shipping prices of all those jdm parts (also getting caught for racing, lol). I just wanted a clean taco with a few mods, nothin fancy. The TRD skid plate seems like the way to go, I'm just waiting for someone to give me the definite answer if it would fit on my plain & simple taco.

Nice builds btw, I guess with a job like yours, the skies the limit, jk. I used to work in Pearl Harbor too but as a contractor.

Since we're here... Anyone know of a proper skid besides the TRD that has the little door for changing oil?

Welcome! I just added skids to my 2013, lucky for me here in SoCal never hit anything major. I would not spend the money to buy a replacement but you will be well served with a real upgraded skid. If you hang around here long enough, you are going to replace the stock one anyway.

My unbranded RCI front skid. Not sure what a cenderblock will do to it but it should take a beating.

How so? It goes right over the skid using the same bolts. Actually doesn't even have anything to do with it. You can just use the 4 bolts and put it up

Maybe it's optional? But if he has it done, it must work.

Back to my question though, would the TRD Pro skid plate fit my 2017 SR? Anyone?

Confused with what you're asking but the Pro doesn't require to use the old skid with it and the BPF does, its written in the instructions for both. Here's the instructions for BPF.

OK the instructions says to BUT you really don't have to. Even the picture shows the old plate just sits there and does nothing. I had it off and put the plate on without it. Works fine. I put the old plate on with it cause the old plate does wrap around and protects more of the sides vs just front and bottom of the new one
