ya probably close. 500 for sure I have front and rear plate bumpers the rear being a swing out with a 33" spare full skids and sliders. sooo ya she's pretty heavy.

 

My front is 85 rear is 150 swingout is about 70 before the 35" spare. Add skids and sliders and probably pushing 500lbs in armor. 700 is unlikely but full armor can add about 500lbs, unless you have a cage. But if you're not gonna be running a camper shell or rtt all the time, I'd go with just the standard dakars. I ran them for a while ant they are great with some constant weight. But without that much weight over the rear end all the time, youtr not gonna be happy

 

Awesome thank you much for the info, ya my initial statement of 700, which was a guess was definitely a lil off but ya I bet 500 for sure.

 

Leaf spring load rating is meant for how much weight is over the bed, or in the bed. Do you have 700lbs of stuff in or over your bed?

 

ya I figured that out cause I definitely do not have that kind of weight over the rear axle in fact now that I think about it the majority of my weight is up front.

 

Here is the delema: pick springs for an empty bed and be unhappy when it's fully loaded with gear for a trip, or pick springs for a fully loaded truck and be unhappy the rest of the time?

I go with the latter, because it's a fuckin' truck, not a Rolls YMMV though.

I estimate my full load for a trip between 500# and 800#, depending on how much food/water/ammo I'm bringing. I'll also be adding the helper leaf to my Dakar pack as soon as I can.

 

ya know that's true too if I ever feel like it's starting to sag I can always add the extra leaf

 

Add sand bags for daily use?

 

Hahaha or I could fill the cubby's in the bed with cement and use the sandbags

 

I have a bed rack, Hilift, 35" spare, 4 gallons each gas and water, about 80# of tools regularly in bed along with a rear plate bumper. Dakar pack with

$82 D29xl Leaf Spring

D29xl add a leaf and top overload removed. Rides great. Add an extra 300# in the bed and it squats down on the bottom overload and still rides well

 

Could always cut a sheet of 3/16 steel to lay down in the bed for extra weight without taking up bed space? I think a full 4'x8' sheet weighs about 240lbs, so one cut to fit in the bed could easily add 150 over the rear axle. Also help with traction in the snow

 

It's the 'squats down' part I object to. I want full lift when fully loaded.

 

Ive been regretting not getting the OME dakars or custom Deavers. Seems like the allpro expos I have squat just a hair with only bedrack, steel rear, swingout w/33" spare, and a few rotopax.
I deployed shortly after install so I haven't seen them after settling yet either. Throw some dogs in the back, RTT, some gear...probably not gonna be a happy camper.

 

The AP Expo should be heavier rated than the Dakar.

 

Luckily for me I don't wheel with a trailer with a 300# tongue weight. And by squat I mean about 1-1/4". Do you forget how ass high my girl usually is?

 

Just seems like a majority of overland builds have Dakars is what makes me second-guess. Still got king front coilovers to install and steel plate front when I get home. It had a procomp lift from previous owner, so maybe the front is lifted too high.
After the expos and ubolt flip w/timbrens...only had 2-2.5" bump travel and leafs were not too far from flat. Was definitely expecting to go ass high after install...not level.

Something is wrong somewhere with that picture. Crazy extended bump stops?

AP Expo packs should get 3" of lift with 500# in the bed.

 

Just the normal timbren flip kit mount.

Edit* It is a much longer bumpstop. I dunno...I never measured or got to cycle it much yet. Just eyeballing it before I left, looks perfectly level with front. It was perfectly level with front with a AAL and no steel rear though.

 

I suspect the front is jacked up too high.

Check your front hub to fender measurment, and front down travel.
