I think you guys are confusing the estimates. The 1% effected are requiring remediation. All others are check and retorque. I suspect those "in queue" are more of the latter- to be checked.

Toyota could care less about the total cost of any recall. The 30-40k you paid for you vehicle already had the cost of any possible recall or class action lawsuit figured in. Along with material, man hours and estimated warrenty work. Every single percent(down to the 100th) of the price of a new vehicle is accounted for.

:smack: I don't think anyone in accounting, including actuaries have anything figured that closely. Keep that deep state conspiracy thinking up though!

Ok. But it's called Business. That's how grown ups make money in manufacturing. And that's how a company can recall 4 million vehicles and still be in Business. When you manufacture something, to make a profit, Every cost and possible cost has to be a accounted. The cost are passed to the consumer. Straight up business 101, with Statistics thrown In.

    This ^^^
If you have a wet spot on your diff they will hold it hostage.! A letter from Toyota doesn't mean the dealer has the parts yet. I have a 10K service appt for July 5th and called dealer today to see if they have the parts and he said no. My diff is dry but am still hesitant to go there knowing the parts aren't in yet and there are loads of hostages still waiting. So if I pull in and a wet spot shows up I'm in the back of the line behind all the poor people with there trucks left out in the elements and not having there truck at home where it belongs. So I say wait it out unless your dripping fluid on your drive way.
    Peace

Service manager emailed me, said no longer than two weeks more, tops. Parts inbound by the end of the week.

Wonder why it's taking them so long to get down here...

I'm still amazed they get $40 K for that little 3.50 with no power seats ,and a plastic bed mostly made in Tijuana Mex.That took some balls but they pulled it off with a straight face,.

You are sadly mistaken. That is EBITA and extremely important to any company. Ask Toyota or Honda if they had Takata built into the calculation. Ask VW if they had their diesel emissions figured into the calculation.
