I haven't seen a whole lot of threads that show the aftermarket paint jobs for camper shells or the cost for doing so, so here ya go.

Picked up the shell from CL for $500 a few weeks back. The shell was originally black in color. Took it to a couple of shops to get some estimates. They were typically $500-600. Maaco, on the other hand, quoted me $300 OTD. Was a bit hesitant at first due to Maaco's reputation of shoddy paint jobs, but I decided to roll the dice and take a chance. Couldn't have been happier with the results. Paint match is near perfect and the quality is excellent. Windows were all removed prior to painting and there is no hint or the original factory color. Came with a five year warranty.

Shane, that is a better match than my factory paint from Leer, and I sent it back once. Your truck looks great!

Revival post. I just got a great deal on an MGM for my Silver Sky Metallic 2015. I called one shop, and they estimated (wild ass guess, not having seen it) $800-900, depending on how much prep was necessary.

I plan to remove the door and all the windows and the Thule rails myself so all a shop needs to do is minor tape and then prep sand to minimize labor. Now that I own it, I'll take it to him and discuss more details to see if it comes down. And call some more shops.

Anyone else have a story with prices, results, and location?

I haven't heard anything about the quality of Maaco's fiberglass work. As for the paint... @ShaneG how's that Maaco paint job holding up a few years on?
