One of the reasons others have a different reaction is because of the motor we grew up with. I learned to drive with big v8's and the slightest throttle was needed to accelerate. Others living in the 80's-90's with the advent of the week 4 cyl engines are used to pushing the throttle much farther down to get any movement. I will never be satisfied with even a powerful v6 unless it has a turbo- they make the car feel much more responsive.

Excellent points but you totally forgot the CAI - that's like 13-18 more. I'm almost positive by the time I'm done with all these mods I'm bumping 400hp...

T-Rex grill with black bezel. Blacked out all the badges and added the Tacoma on the tail gate. The windows have been tinted to the darkest law will allow.
I always make a turn in 2nd gear just for that reason. And when I need to jump out into traffic I'll do it in 1st. Safety first. Btw I have a AT and love it

Well hell, I didn't even know what ECT was until today! I saw the button there and dug out the owner's manual and looked it up. I've only had the truck 5 or 6 days. My previous Tacoma was an '08 with a 4banger and MT, so didn't have any of this fancy new-fangled stuff.

I'll have to give it a poke and try it out, see what all the commotion's about! :D

i stand corrected i did mean compression stroke. still who wants an engine that does that, is basically de-tuned.

    for what reason? just curious.

I usually leave mine off as well, but do notice the extra "kick" when on. But I don't need that for my daily driving.

Does having ECT turned on all the time damage anything?

It automatically turns on ECT every time you start the truck. IMO how the truck should drive stock.

That's the pucker feeling when a big truck is heading towards you and the throttle doesn't engage immediately.

    I've had this feeling before...
